I’m thinking about different perspectives…

WE CAN’T ESCAPE

“Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them.”
— Orison Swett Marden

We can’t escape problems and negativity. Escaping just brings denial and suppression – we continue to carry the problem with us. Ironically, it is our lack of acceptance and resistance to the problem that creates the pain. Resistance builds up an energy wall or block that, if not discharged, gets suppressed into the body. These blocks identify places where we have not enough understanding or love.

For health, we must work through what we seek to avoid. How do we do this? We can love parts of ourselves that we don’t like. We can seek the lessons we are being invited to learn through the problem. We can examine our beliefs and seek to see different perspectives and a bigger picture. As our perspectives grow, more of life makes sense and has meaning.

“The Lord is a good psychologist: he knows the way our minds run. Turmoil can be the Lord’s way of tapping us on the shoulder and saying, ‘Don’t forget me.'”

I’m thinking about words…

SELF TALK IS REVEALING

“If you wish to know the mind of a man, listen to his words.”
— Chinese Proverb

What passes over your lips each day?

Are your words typically negative, critical, gossiping, deceptive, illusory, justifying, blaming, manipulative and argumentative? Are they more uplifting, inspirational, positive, questioning, beautiful, loving, universal, truthful, accepting and supportive?

The throat is our center of expression. Who we are sneaks out in our attitudes and in what we say.

“Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs.”
— Pearl Strachan Hurd

“The wise weigh their words on a scale with gold.”
— Bible

Mona Harris on Safety Energy Lock “12”

This is article #14 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Mona Harris continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 49, Summer 2005:

Safety Energy Lock 12

I always wondered why Mary didn’t talk about the breath in Self-Help Book 1; whereas, she talks about it immediately in Book 3 on page 1, and on page 2 in Book 2.

Well, after years of looking at Self-Help Book 1, I finally saw it on page 12: “The awareness of the moment (the breath), one’s present state of being will become an art of LIVING.” This brings to mind the air element of the Supervisor flows which anchor on Safety Energy Lock 12.

Safety Energy Lock 12 “helps to keep from TRY-ing to DO and allows us to effortless BE.” This is one way of Mary describing Safety Energy Lock 12 in Self-Help Book 2. When we look at page 12 in Book 1, we find a reference to the “trying to” (little finger as helper for the attitude Pretense) as well as in Self-Help Book 3 (also page 12) with finger pose No. III: “It is one’s own attitudes that cause limitations, blockages, and keep one from being FUN.” Therefore, she reminds us to “unload all ATTITUDES…HAVE FUN,” while talking about Safety Energy Lock 12 in Self-Help Book 2.

“FUN – Fulfillment, Understanding, No-thing” are some of the words Mary gives us with safety Energy Lock 6 (2 x 6 = 12!) in Self-Help Book 2. Six is the number of 4th Depth (attitude Fear), and Mary told us that fear is the “core” of all attitudes. And what self-help recharge do we find in Book 2?  Opposite 12 and coccyx – already known from Book 1, page 48 (4 + 8 = 12!): the first step of POSTERIOR DESCENDING energy (Bladder Flow). It’s the only hand position in Self-Help Book 2 that is the anchor step of an organ flow. This is also the last step of Kidney flow, both flows being part of 4th Depth.

The middle finger harmonizes Safety Energy Lock 12, and if we look through Self-Help Book 3, we find further indications of the power of holding the middle finger through all things related to it. Some of these we find on page 33 (3 + 3 = 6) in Self-Help Book 3. What I find exciting is at the bottom of that page: “simply getting to Know Myself, BE IT IS, IS.” (This, in effect, is “Not my will but Thy will.”) BE is FUN. FUN is to BE. BE in the flow – Be the FLOW – in the flow there is no accumulation – no-THING, nothing.” (The element of 4th Depth is water – flow.)

The color of twelve is pale blue and the only other place we see another pale color is pale yellow representing the zero. Zero represents the Main Central which is our personal source, and twelve is located at the level of the 4th cervical vertebra which on our answer sheet we know is 7th Depth, our universal source. Both of the pale colors are referring to our source which is unmanifested.

As we know from Text 1, page 18, Safety Energy Lock 12 harmonizes safety Energy Lock 14 – “thy will” harmonizes “my will”. And what does Mary write about safety Energy  Lock 14 in book 2? “To do, just BE.”

So let’s do it – and “effortless BE!”

Thank you, Mona.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about touching my intuition…

RAISE YOUR AWARENESS

“Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.”
— Albert Einstein

Take awareness to new levels. Explore experiencing yourself in the act of being aware. Be aware of awareness itself. To do this, we need to go beyond our old mechanical patterns, compulsions and rejections. We need to uproot the arrogance of ego.

Higher awareness is conscious of spirit and form working together. We must be conscious and present within before we can tune in to the guidance of our soul. Develop awareness to hear the subtlest whispers of intuition through your thoughts, feelings and sensations.

“Most of us are in touch with our intuition whether we know it or not, but we’re usually in the habit of doubting or contradicting it so automatically that we don’t even know it has spoken.”

Iole M. Lebensztajn on Safety Energy Lock “11”

This is article #12 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Iole M. Lebensztajn continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 47, Winter 2005:

Becoming Lighter with Safety Energy Lock 11

In 1994 I was invited to an interview in a TV show. It was the first time I would talk about Jin Shin Jyutsu in this kind of setting.

At that time I was a “4 year old” student. As you can imagine I was a “little” apprehensive because it is always a great responsibility to talk about Jin Shin Jyutsu. I couldn’t stop ruminating. “I have to honor the Physio-Philosophy taught by Mary, I have to be the clearest I can be, I have to convey the message in 10 minutes, I have to…”

Finally I realized that I needed something to help my shoulders drop, getting rid of all those “I have to’s.” As often in this kind of situation, my hands have “thought” much better than my mind. My right hand went straight to my left shoulder and my left thumb covered my left ring fingernail (see page 32 Self-Help Book 2). Almost immediately a deep exhale happened (11 is an amplified 1 bringing an amplified exhale) and I could feel peace and harmony from head to toes, toes to head. I kept jumper cabling myself in that position until I was called to start my interview.

Shortly, everything flowed in a very smooth way. Safety Energy Lock 11 supported me by feeling really tuned in during the entire interview, and maybe it affected even the journalists (they were two). Guess which was the only Safety Energy Lock one of them asked about? Yes, touching her 11’s she asked me what to do to help this area of prevalent tension in everyone’s lives and why it gets so tense. Of course, I showed her the Self-Help described above and told her that we often carry excess baggage on our shoulders, represented by all the “should’s” and “have to’s.” “Moreover,” I said, “we are afraid of letting our light shine before everyone, which prevents us from seeing the abundance which we really are.”

At the end of the interview, knowing it was my first time being interviewed in a TV show, the journalists were amazed by my serenity and how comfortable I was. They have remarked that it looked like I did that every day.

In fact Safety Energy Lock 11 melted away the tension to open myself to harmony. Besides that, by harmonizing all the neck and throat area, I believe it also eased my expression to be very simple and natural. I don’t know about the viewers, but everybody at the TV studio was having FUN. The entire atmosphere became Lighter.

Thank you, Iole.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

Janet Oliver on Safety Energy Lock “11”

This is article #13 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Janet Oliver continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 48, Spring 2005:

Number Eleven

In class and private session, Mary is known for her thorough clearing of the 11s. In my first experience of this phenomenon, I remember the PAIN. I would “try to” squiggle around to get away from the pain, only to have Mary reposition her thumbs and fingers so the PAIN came again. My face was bright red from the rushing movement of energy, and my classmates giggled with empathy, many of them knowing this experience. Finally, the pain melted away under her touch, and my shoulders dropped. A feeling of freedom and ease overcame my being.

In this moment, I understood Mary’s words (Self-Help Book II, p. 32): “Be the SMILE. BE the dropping of your shoulders – unload, receive and tune into the rhythm of the cosmos where there is no-thing.” I felt so light and bright.

Mary calls the unloading of the shoulders the “getting rid of excess baggage (garbage).” She says, “Everyone brings their ‘precious antiques’ to me in their 11s, but I haven’t found one worth keeping yet.”

In Self-Help Book II, pgs. 32-33, the first self-help quickie is just quietly jumper cable 11 and make a ring with the thumb and ring finger (2nd Depth, breathing), which helps us BE the dropping of the shoulders and to BE the BREATH. Mary states that in “the awareness of the moment (the breath), one’s present state of being will become an art of LIVING.” (Self-Help Book I, p. 12).

This summer I had my own personal experience of the 11s. I was driving on the freeway in the San Francisco Bay Area, when I felt uncontrollably sleepy. I fought the sleepy feeling, tried to get over to get off the freeway, but before I could, I passed out. I “saw” bright white light and the faces of loved ones who had passed. I thought I was dying. I perceived the Gates of Heaven open before me, with the gate posts shining brilliantly as Heavenly Columns of Divine Light. Quietly and firmly, without fear or thought, I heard myself say “NO”, from the depths of my soul. The Heavenly Gates receded, and I came to, opening my eyes.

My car had moved to the fastest lane on its own and was heading at an angle towards the 5-foot wall dividing the lanes of the freeway. It was a simple matter to straighten the car in its lane. Without  thinking, I lowered the windows. The sleepiness disappeared, and my head cleared. I knew that my car probably had a major carbon monoxide leak. I felt gratitude to be alive.

Eleven is the number of 7th Depth, LIGHT. Adding up the numbers of each letter of the word LIGHT, we have 12(L) + 9(I) + 7(G) + 8(H) + 20 (T) = 56, and 5 + 6 = 11, so LIGHT = 11. Throughout my years of study of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I’ve wondered at times about the deep relationship of 11 and 7th Depth, LIGHT. After perceiving the Gates of Heaven, with posts of Brilliant Divine Light (11s), now I know.

Thank you, Janet.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about gratitude…

APPRECIATION

“You can never get to peace and inner security without first acknowledging all of the good things in your life. If you’re forever wanting and longing for more without first appreciating things the way they are, you’ll stay in discord.”
— Doc Childre and Howard Martin

Develop an attitude of gratitude. We discover a sense of wholeness as we appreciate both the small and big things in our lives. And it really helps to remember to appreciate ourselves. Appreciation is more than just acceptance — it’s respect and admiration. Let go of criticism and self-abuse.

“Generally, appreciation means some blend of thankfulness, admiration, approval, and gratitude. In the financial world, something that ‘appreciates’ grows in value. With the power tool of appreciation, you get the benefit of both perspectives: as you learn to be consistently thankful and approving, your life will grow in value.”
— Doc Childre and Howard Martin
