I’m thinking about the journey to Origin…

THE PARADOX OF LIFE’S JOURNEY

“It is only when we realize that life is taking us nowhere that it begins to have meaning.”
— P.D. Ouspensky

“All major mystical traditions have recognized that there is a paradox at the heart of the journey of return to Origin. …Put simply, this is that we are already what we seek, and that what we are looking for on the Path with such an intensity of striving and passion and discipline is already within and around us at all moments. The journey and all its different ordeals are all emanations of the One Spirit that is manifesting everything in all dimensions; every rung of the ladder we climb toward final awareness is made of the divine stuff of awareness itself; Divine Consciousness is at once creating and manifesting all things and acting in and as all things in various states of self-disguise throughout all the different levels and dimensions of the universe.”
— Andrew Harvey

“Look at you, you madman, Screaming you are thirsty And are dying in a desert when all around you there is nothing but water!”
— Kabir

“After changes upon changes, we are more or less the same.”
— Paul Simon

Sara Harper on Safety Energy Lock “15”

This is article #17 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Sara Harper continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 52, Spring 2006:

Safety Energy Lock 15

Safety Energy Lock “15 came into the universe meaning laughter – ‘wash our hearts with laughter.'”

Fifteen “harmonizes functions of the heart to bring complete mental peace and security; helps to bring forth new ideas and adaptation.”

We went through a rough year starting last February. We found ourselves homeless with our two young children. Our home was torn to shreds, with a faulty sewer line underneath our foundation. The plumbers had to trench through our entire home to replace the plumbing. We had to move our belongings six times in a four-month period. Everything we own was covered with concrete, dust and dirt. The repairs were over $30,000 and the insurance was only covering part of the repair. Needless to say, it was not the easiest of times for me, or my family.

My daughter cried herself to sleep in my arms almost every night saying, “I just want to live in our home properly.”

The level of stress was extremely high for all of us. I found myself once again needing the practice that I preach. It was difficult to find the inner peace I usually experience. I felt as though I could not breathe or relax. In the first 10 days I lost eleven pounds. At one point I said to myself, “What is more important to you, your home or yourself?” …Silly question. I realized I had lost my center, my inner place of peace, my home.

I first started with the Self-Help Main Central Flow in combination with the 36 breaths. Then, I started utilizing 11 & 15 and 11 & 25. I wanted joy back in my being and in my daily living. In what seemed like rough times, I started finding all the things that I am grateful for. My family and I all had our health, our lives, and livelihood. Simple realizations, but sometimes after a hardship one has to start with the bare basics. The experience gave me so much compassion and empathy for all the people in New Orleans and other areas who lost everything. In comparison, it seems small what we went through.

It has been a full year since the disaster in our home and we are living gratefully and with much happiness and joy. And as always I am so grateful to Mary Burmeister for all the wonderful ways she has shown us to live our lives – one breath, one flow, and one moment at a time.

Thank you, Sara.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about the Law of Love…

RAISING YOUR SIGHTS

“A human being is a part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe,’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.”
— Albert Einstein

To grow in consciousness, we expand our perspectives on life. So how do we do that? The more we work with the universal — the concept of unity and wholeness, the more everything makes sense. Parts have meaning when they are understood to be parts of a bigger picture.

Consciousness is all about relationships — especially how the lower relates to the higher and how the darkness can exist within the light. Hold and experience contradictions like anger with love. Let opposites coexist in you without choosing one over the other.

“Higher consciousness, enLIGHTenment, comes from meaningful experiences and lessons passed with the understanding that there truly is only one law – the Law of Love. When one leads a life expressing this belief, the mind and heart begin to open to new realities, and other dimensional truths become known.”
— Dr. Norma Milanovich & Dr. Shirley McCune

I’m thinking about fury and patience…

HEAL DUALITIES

“Beware of the fury of the patient man.”
— John Dryden

Our minds perceive and give relative value – positive and negative – to the different sides of a duality. We usually shun the negative.

It’s important to know that you cannot eliminate the negative by focusing exclusively on the positive. Energetically, both opposites must remain in balance. Increase one and its opposite will also increase. Try to be only positive and the negative within you will raise its ugly head.

We work with dualities by remembering that each is part of the whole. We must acknowledge and accept all aspects of life, because they all exist within us. And so, if we seek to be honest, we do so by acknowledging our potential to be dishonest. We can also bring in love and compassion when we catch ourselves acting out the negative.

Power arises out of integrating the positive and negatives within us. From the tension that exists between the two, we develop awareness and become more conscious and compassionate.

“Any fool can run towards the light. It takes a master with courage to turn and face the darkness and shine his own light there.”

Mona Harris on Safety Energy Lock “14”

This is article #16 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Mona Harris continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 51, Winter 2006:

Safety Energy Lock 14

“KNOW MYSELF IT IS. To do, just BE.” These are the words Mary writes next to Safety Energy Lock 14 in Self-Help Book 2. To do, just BE – I would have expected these words next to a Safety Energy Lock of the 5th Depth…but obviously it is OUR WILL that gets us into trouble.

Even though we know better (deep inside), we DO things that are not good for us. How much that can affect us is listed as possible disharmonies next to the 14 flow in Text 1. Mary lists more possible symptoms in this flow than in any other flow in Text 1! It is our mind that brings us into trouble! Maybe that is the reason there is no 14 in the 14 flow? But of course the waistline (mind) is cleared by holding both 9s – to put an end to that cycle! And if we look closely we find a lot of 5th Depth helpers in the flow. We start off with Safety Energy Lock 15 which is harmonized by the little finger – the harmonizer of the 5th Depth (attitude level) and go to the 15 on the other side of the body in the 7th step. We use Safety Energy Lock 24 and 25 (both live in 5th Depth), and holding the 3rd and 4th step together is the Little Finger Function Energy (Heart and Small Intestine Function Energy intermingles – both 5th Depth) from Text 2.

14 is the beginning of mankind, man living between spirit (1 – all creation proceeds from unity) and matter (4 – the four elements). “The art of LIVING is simple. We complicate it in our efforts to try to live, or is it to exist?” Mary asks us in Self-Help Book 1 (page 2). If we want to live harmoniously between heaven (spirit-13) and earth (body-15) we can hold our 14s to unite waist-up and waist-down and bring us equilibrium and sustenance. If we feel sustained we realize that there is always enough for all and “forget to focus on:

  1. Comparing, competing;
  2. Judging (being judged), labeling (being labeled);
  3. Trying to understand, trying to find out WHY.”

Guess on what page that’s written in Self-Help Book 3? Page 14!

What’s on page 14 in Self-Help Book 1? An empty page – to understand and digest all information we have gotten up to that point, a little pause for the mind before we start jumper cabling the body (15) on page 15.

The color of 14 is blue; the color of 2 is pale blue. The letters on the cover of Self-Help Book 2 are blue, and in it Mary talks about what, where and who Mankind’s Safety Energy Locks are as well as when and how they help. Satisfying the mind!

If we look on page 14 of Self-Help Book 2, we find Mary speaking to us about Safety Energy Lock 2. “Seeing through the eyes of the Creator” is one meaning of 2. And isn’t that exactly what happens when we get stuck in our lifestyle (waistline) – that we can’t see what’s really going on? (14 helps the vision.) “Wisdom” always recognizes ‘wholeness’, ‘oneness’, while ignorance looks at, specializes in a part of parts.” Whenever mankind forgets to see the whole picture, we get into trouble.

Luckily we have a simple “tool” to help us develop our wisdom and harmonize our will at the same time: Jumper cable the ringer finger!

Thank you, Mona.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about communication…

DEEPER COMMUNICATION

“Once a human being has arrived on this earth, communication is the largest single factor determining what kinds of relationships he makes with others and what happens to him in the world about him.”
— Virginia Satir

How do you typically communicate? Is it through words, gestures, emotions, thoughts, desires, needs, truths, direct perception or intuition? Do you focus more on the other person or on yourself? Do you typically tell, ask or listen?

For a few days, set an intention to be aware of your communication styles and skills. After you’ve spent some time talking with someone, reflect on what your underlying motives were and what level of depth you reached. Write your insights in your journal. This exercise will help you become more aware and conscious of who you are and why you do what you do.

“We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversation with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.”
— Thomas Moore

“You must speak straight so that your words may go as sunlight to our hearts.”
— Cochise

Margareth Umeoka Serra on Safety Energy Lock “13”

This is article #15 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Margareth Umeoka Serra of Sao Paulo, Brazil continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 50, Fall 2005:

Safety Energy Lock 13

When I think about Safety Energy Lock 13, I am reminded of

  • Cosmic Artless Art to Know (help) Myself
  • Physio-Philosophy (Nature – Effortless Reality)
  • Art of Living, Creator’s Art
  • MAN
  • ROOT
  • Self-Help Book I
  • Self-Help Book II, Page 1
  • Self-Help Book III, Page 1
  • Text 1, unnumbered page 2 and numbered pages 1, 2, 3
  • Text 2, pages 1, 2

Safety Energy Lock 13 (Physio-Philosophy – Awareness of Myself, Root, Bustline) helps us to be aware of a simple way of BEING to help Myself, to help others and thus to KNOW Cosmic Oneness.

I remember Mary’s words on the second unnumbered page of Text 1: “The responsibility for usage of knowledge received is within each one. The meaning of Jin Shin Jyutsu, The Creator’s Art – Effortless Reality (MAN) – explains that this responsibility is to the Creator and to oneself.”

With each new breath I recognize the Greatness of Jin Shin Jyutsu as an Art of Living, to “simply BE the channel through which flows the infinite esthetic power of the Creator”, as Mary says.

In Self-Help Book II, on page 36, we also find Safety Energy Lock 13: “Awareness and Understanding of the UNLOADING (exhale) and RECEIVING (inhale) the BREATH OF LIFE will help us to develop…KNOW MYSELF IT IS…” in a more focused and expanded way. Mary says, “BE the essence in the 36 Divine breaths (9 for Space, 9 for the Source of all sources, 9 for the big “S” Source and 9 for the small “s” source).

“Love thy enemy.” Who are our greatest enemies? We are, whenever we forget who we really are. To hold high 19s and/or little finger and index finger helps me to remember who I AM. Whenever I love myself I love MYSELF – the DOT – and I acknowledge the manifestation of the Macrocosm in the Microcosm that I AM. And if I still cannot remember, I can hold Safety Energy Lock 4 (Self-Help Book II, page 18), the key to the Bust Line, where Mary tells us that: “VISION – Self-change starts with self study. Shallow breathing causes disharmony. Deep breathing results in a loving personality.” Safety Energy Lock 4 is the “window” that allows “light (knowledge) and air (Life-Breath) – KNOW MYSELF IT IS” – to be the child, to be creative, fertile, to be enthusiasm, fire, the Fountain of Youth, to simply BE who I AM, Be the no-Be…BE.

I could go on writing about Safety Energy Lock 13 for the rest of my life just as I realize that Jin Shin Jyutsu is a path for the rest of our lives. Awareness of Myself, Root, Safety Energy Lock 13 is to be aware and recognize that we are studying and remembering the Creation of Humanity through Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy. IT IS to realize that we are ONE, nourished by the same rootless Root. IT IS to realize that the “Path is inside Myself to find that which has no beginning or end. exhale all skepticism, attitudes and inhale abundant joy, laughter and happiness. Keep SMILING and exhaling.”

Thank you, Margareth.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.
