This is article #13 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.
Janet Oliver continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 48, Spring 2005:
Number Eleven
In class and private session, Mary is known for her thorough clearing of the 11s. In my first experience of this phenomenon, I remember the PAIN. I would “try to” squiggle around to get away from the pain, only to have Mary reposition her thumbs and fingers so the PAIN came again. My face was bright red from the rushing movement of energy, and my classmates giggled with empathy, many of them knowing this experience. Finally, the pain melted away under her touch, and my shoulders dropped. A feeling of freedom and ease overcame my being.
In this moment, I understood Mary’s words (Self-Help Book II, p. 32): “Be the SMILE. BE the dropping of your shoulders – unload, receive and tune into the rhythm of the cosmos where there is no-thing.” I felt so light and bright.
Mary calls the unloading of the shoulders the “getting rid of excess baggage (garbage).” She says, “Everyone brings their ‘precious antiques’ to me in their 11s, but I haven’t found one worth keeping yet.”
In Self-Help Book II, pgs. 32-33, the first self-help quickie is just quietly jumper cable 11 and make a ring with the thumb and ring finger (2nd Depth, breathing), which helps us BE the dropping of the shoulders and to BE the BREATH. Mary states that in “the awareness of the moment (the breath), one’s present state of being will become an art of LIVING.” (Self-Help Book I, p. 12).
This summer I had my own personal experience of the 11s. I was driving on the freeway in the San Francisco Bay Area, when I felt uncontrollably sleepy. I fought the sleepy feeling, tried to get over to get off the freeway, but before I could, I passed out. I “saw” bright white light and the faces of loved ones who had passed. I thought I was dying. I perceived the Gates of Heaven open before me, with the gate posts shining brilliantly as Heavenly Columns of Divine Light. Quietly and firmly, without fear or thought, I heard myself say “NO”, from the depths of my soul. The Heavenly Gates receded, and I came to, opening my eyes.
My car had moved to the fastest lane on its own and was heading at an angle towards the 5-foot wall dividing the lanes of the freeway. It was a simple matter to straighten the car in its lane. Without thinking, I lowered the windows. The sleepiness disappeared, and my head cleared. I knew that my car probably had a major carbon monoxide leak. I felt gratitude to be alive.
Eleven is the number of 7th Depth, LIGHT. Adding up the numbers of each letter of the word LIGHT, we have 12(L) + 9(I) + 7(G) + 8(H) + 20 (T) = 56, and 5 + 6 = 11, so LIGHT = 11. Throughout my years of study of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I’ve wondered at times about the deep relationship of 11 and 7th Depth, LIGHT. After perceiving the Gates of Heaven, with posts of Brilliant Divine Light (11s), now I know.
Thank you, Janet.
