I’m thinking about owning my life…

DO YOU OWN YOUR LIFE?

“The meaning of life is to give life meaning.”
— Ken Hudgins

When we own our lives, we accept what we’ve inherited and the experiences we hold in our memories. We also claim our right to create new conditions if we’re not happy with what’s come before. We assume responsibility for changing what does not suit us. We acknowledge our own special talents and skills, and truly comprehend our right to enjoy the journey. In short, we embrace the meaning and purpose, the mystery and the beauty of our lives.

Do you feel that you own your life at the moment?

“I think of life itself now as a wonderful play that I’ve written for myself… and so my purpose is to have the utmost fun playing my part.”
— Shirley MacLaine

“Life is too short to be little.”
— Benjamin Disraeli

“Every man dies, but not every man lives….”

Birgitta Meinhardt on Safety Energy Lock “3”

This is article #4 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Birgitta Meinhardt continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 39, Winter 2003:

Safety Energy Lock “3”

Safety Energy Lock 3 is the door of life, the birthplace of the Mediator. 3 is the dance, the waltz, the movement, the activity. The rhythm of life is the 3/4 bar. 3 is our breathing specialist. As long as we breathe, we are able to move, we can walk on. This is defense against problems and discomforts. Not letting go makes us heavy, immovable and stiff. Then the attitudes appear. While dancing the waltz, we always see the things around us from a different perspective, always new. 3 dissolves and releases conflicts, and a new unity is formed – a structured unity, which becomes the fountain of life, 3rd Depth. 3 creates harmony, so development in general is possible.

During labor the lungs of the baby are squeezed together. 1 – exhale – as the baby is born, it has to inhale against a resistance; consciousness is created. 2 – to be able to truly live there has to be an exhale out of our free will in the right moment. 3 – in the confidence that allows us to be led, that lets things happen, that waits for the right moment, we are helped to receive a deep understanding of relationships. Intuitive certainty is to “UNLOAD” and “RECEIVE”. As we exhale all skepticisms and inhale our abundance, we help the lung and pelvic girdle, the place of all life.

In Self-Help Book II, Mary gives us the simple routine of holding the shoulder (3) and same side groin (15) to harmonize Safety Energy Lock 3. This same option is given for Safety Energy Locks 5, 6, 15 and 23. Each of these Safety Energy Locks appears on the circulation pathway of the Mediator. 5 speaks about putting off the old and putting on the new, 6 speaks about being in balance, 15 speaks about the joy and laughter in our life, and, or course, 23 speaks about responsibility.

The 3, the new one – beyond duality, is the birthplace of the Mediator, connecting left and right sides, front and back. In Self-Help Book I, Mary writes about the Mediator on page 18. “This is the ‘mediator’. Therefore, this energy is the cause for disharmony in the body. It is of vital importance to keep this energy functioning properly for the total supply of energy to the whole man.”

Thank you, Birgitta.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about Verse 81 of the Tao…

Words born of the mind are not true

True words are not born of the mind

Those who have virtue do not look for faults

Those who look for faults have no virtue

Those who come to know It

do not rely on learning

Those who rely on learning

do not come to know It

The Sage sees the world

as an expansion of his own self

So what need has he to accumulate things?

By giving to others

he gains more and more

By serving others

he receives everything

Heaven gives,

and all things turn out for the best

The Sage lives,

and all things go as Tao goes

all things move as the wind blows

Iole M. Lebensztajn on Safety Energy Lock 2

This is article #3 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Iole M. Lebensztajn continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 38, Fall 2002:

Safety Energy Lock “2” ~ Life Force for All Creatures (Wisdom)

Holding our Safety Energy Lock 2 we are in touch with our Life Force and our Wisdom for living with the different aspects of Duality in Balance and Harmony.

It is interesting to notice that Mary talks about Safety Energy Lock 2 on page 14 of Self-Help Book 2. Safety Energy Lock 14 helps us with the experience of living between Heaven and Earth (bustline and hipline), bringing the capacity of being nourished and sustained by both realities. The physical and spiritual aspects of our being are the main duality of our lives. When we learn how to live both of them in oneness, we can feel the Life Force expressing itself in our being.

Living through duality, we develop wisdom, the capacity of perceiving, accepting and balancing differences. Moreover, with wisdom we learn how to recognize relationships instead of opposition. Maybe this is why we jumper cable Safety Energy Locks 2 and 3 (3 helps relationships) as a quickie to recharge 2. Inside the principle of 2 there is 3 (Balance and Harmony).

As page 15 is also about how to apply self-help for Safety Energy Lock 2, it reminds me that this living in duality is supposed to be FUN and not to be taken so seriously.

Therefore, allow yourself to just quietly hold your 2 at the back of your hip and feel how this affects your breathing your legs, your back, your Being. And remember to BE the SMILE.

Thank you, Iole.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about Verse 80 of the Tao…

Let every state be simple

like a small village with few people

There may be tools to speed things up

ten or a hundred times

yet no one will care to use them

There may be boats and carriages

yet they will remain without riders

There may be armor and weaponry

yet they will sit collecting dust

The people must take death seriously

and not waste their lives in distant lands

Let them return

to the knotting of cord

Let them enjoy their food

and care for their clothing

Let them be content in their homes

and joyful in the way they live

Neighboring villages are within sight of each other

Roosters and dogs can be heard in the distance

Should a man grow old and die

without leaving his village

let him feel as though there was nothing he missed

Sara Harper on Safety Energy Lock 1

This is article #2 of a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective. The series begins in Issue Number 36, Spring 2002, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter.

Sara Harper continues the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 37, Summer 2002:

Safety Energy Lock “1”

“1” came into the universe meaning the prime mover, connecting the extreme height with the extreme depth. ~ Self-Help Book 2, pg. 12

A few years ago I got a bad case of stomach flu and was completely overtaken by it. It rampaged through my body so violently I felt as though I would die. In my darkest moment of porcelain worshiping, a thought came to me that was very helpful for that moment and has actually helped prevent or lessen the symptoms of such an ailment as stomach flu or food poisoning ever since.

It seemed to me that throwing up, rather the energy of it, was exactly opposite to that of the Main Central Vertical Flow. It seemed as though the energy was moving in the opposite direction of the universal life force. I also knew I wanted it to move out of my body quickly. So, I started utilizing the Main Central breath up the back and down the front. I also utilized crossing the hands and holding the 1s. Reconnecting to the vital life force breath (up the back and down the front) and to the prime mover, the flu ended.

I have used this for my children when they have gotten sick, and now whenever my son feels badly, he will come sit in my lap and ask me to do that “breath thing”…up the back and down the front…while he holds on to his 1s.

Recognizing the disharmony, one can be the breath up the back and down the front and hold (jumper cable) the Safety Energy Lock 1 to move the disharmony into the harmony. Also, one can simply hold (jumper cable) the thumbs or middle fingers or hold the fingertips in the palm center and be the breath.

As always, I am very grateful to Mary for all her inspirations to harmonize one’s being.

Thank you, Sara.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about verse 79 of the Tao…

After settling a great dispute

some resentment is sure to remain

Being content with what you have

is always best in the end

The Sage always assumes the debt

as if holding the left side of a contract

He gives and gives, and wants nothing in return

One with true virtue

always seeks a way to give

One who lacks true virtue

always seeks a way to get

To the giver comes the fullness of life

to the taker just an empty hand

Though the Tao of Heaven has no favorites

it always sides with one who has a pure heart

The Zero of “0-26”

This article starts a series of articles by our IT IS Seminar faculty on the Safety Energy Locks from a Self-help perspective.

Sara Harper begins the series with her article in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 36, Spring 2002:

The Zero of “0-26”

Mankind’s “Safety” Energy Locks – Know Myself IT IS: the O (“oval”), the only single flow pattern.

O (“Oval”) came into the universe meaning limitless light; the “Breath” itself; the rootless root.

In man it is called the Main Central Vertical Universal Harmonizing Energy descending the center front of the body, ascending the spine, flowing over the head and descending the center of the front of the body – the “oval”. ~ Excerpts from Mary’s Self-Help Book 2, pg. 9

So take a moment, to feel the breath and the “oval” with eyes closed, body relaxed and comfortable. Experience the “oval”, the breath, life itself. With each inhaling and exhaling, experience your own body’s energy and breath. Inhaling up the back and exhaling down the front, enjoy this simple life breath.

One can simply place the right hand on top of the head and the left hand on the pubic bone, or one can simply hold one’s palm with one’s fingertips and count exhaling from one to thirty-six.

Now we are in the “BREATH” itself. Being in the “Breath only” is heaven on earth, where there is “nothing”. This is a non-secret secret of Jin Shin Jyutsu…to be utilized.

One man attending the IT IS seminar felt as though this single flow pattern, the O (“oval”), saved his life after having a major heart attack. The only thing he could think of until medical help arrived was the breath up the back and down the front…his connection to life…so simple and so powerful.

Thank you, Sara.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking about dancing with life…

REAWAKEN YOUR CURIOSITY

“What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult.”
— Sigmund Freud

Why is this so?

Young children possess what Zen calls ‘beginner’s mind.’ They are awed and fascinated with the wonder of the world, open to discovering and experiencing new things. Anything is possible. Life is a great adventure.

For almost all of us, the systems that ‘educate’ us to be adults stifle our natural joy and curiosity. We lose touch with our innate appreciation of life. We forget how to dream.

The blessing is that with attention, patience and love, we can reawaken our sense of wonder. We can again dance with life.

“The mind WILL be free, or it will be dead.”
— Grace Llewellyn

A Taste of Summer

Today is March 10, 2016 in Montclair, New Jersey, USA. The temperature will reach 75 degrees F today. I was born on March 13, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. There was a blizzard and my parents barely made it to the hospital, and the doctor was delayed for a couple of hours because of those conditions.

But there are those that say that Global Warming is an illusion. There is none so blind as he who will not see…I guess.

However, still looking at The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 54, Fall 2006, we find this article by Lynne Pflueger:

Late Summer

Late Summer, the hottest part of the season, is First Depth. The Order of Transformation, also known as the Order of Supporters, follows sequentially the order of the seasons of a year on earth. The body itself is earth, Main Central is primordial fire, Supervisor is air, and Mediator is water. It is the heat of late summer that brings on the Autumn harvest of the ripening for harmony. Late Summer in the body is Stomach Function Energy and Spleen Function Energy, each one harmonizing our capacity to be both nourished and nourishing.

“First Depth worries will inhibit receiving.” ~ Mary Burmeister

Our Stomach Function Energy enables us to receive nourishment. We are sustained on many levels, not just by food. Friends, family, things we read, hear, see, smell, touch, and invisible fountains of energy all serve to sustain us during this life. Individuals who are unable to accept the help or comfort that they need would benefit from a Stomach Flow.

“What is the use of all this teaching, preaching, and helping others if I am not taking care of myself?” ~ Mary Burmeister

Spleen Function Energy, known in ancient anatomy as the Sun God, will harmonize the vital force enabling us to nourish others. It is possible to forget ourselves and give all of our precious energy away. Years ago I observed my yellow lab going through a serious illness. At one point, during a physical crisis, he withdrew and retreated into his own world to conserve his own energy for healing. He did not engage or interact with anything or anyone that did not feed his own need. Barely moving, he spent several days lying in the sun or shade out on the lawn. While it appeared to some that he was on his last legs, I saw that he was simply harmonizing, absorbing energy from the earth, conserving each precious breath to heal himself rather than frivolously spending himself on others. He did fully recover, fully, and lived quite a bit longer. At the time, I thought to myself, “It would be good if we humans were so wise.” Spleen is depleted by running around and trying to BE.

“When the sun rises I go to work. When the sun goes down I take my rest. I share creation. Kings can do no more.” ~ Ancient Chinese Saying
