Sara Harper on SEL 15

Sara Harper shares her experience about loss…of possessions and joy…in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 52, Spring 2006:

Safety Energy Lock “15 came into the universe meaning laughter – ‘wash our hearts with laughter.'”

Fifteen “harmonizes functions of the heart to bring complete mental peace and security; helps to bring forth new ideas and adaptation.”

We went through a rough year starting last February. We found ourselves homeless with our two young children. Our home was torn to shreds, with a faulty sewer line underneath our foundation. The plumbers had to trench through our entire home to replace the plumbing. We had to move our belongings six times in a four-month period. Everything we own was covered with concrete, dust and dirt. The repairs were over $30,000 and the insurance was only covering part of the repair. Needless to say, it was not the easiest of times for me, or my family.

My daughter cried herself to sleep in my arms almost every night saying, “I just want to live in our home properly.”

The level of stress was extremely high for all of us. I found myself once again needing the practice that I preach. It was difficult to find the inner peace I usually experience. I felt as though I could not breathe or relax. In the first 10 days I lost eleven pounds. At one point I said to myself, “What is more important to you, your home or yourself?” …Silly question. I realized I had lost my center, my inner place of peace, my home.

I first started with the Self-Help Main Central Flow in combination with the 36 breaths. Then, I started utilizing 11 & 15 and 11 & 25. I wanted joy back in my being and in my daily living. In what seemed like rough times, I started finding all the things that I am grateful for. My family and I all had our health, our lives, and livelihood. Simple realizations, but sometimes after a hardship one has to start with the bare basics. The experience gave me so much compassion and empathy for all the people in New Orleans and other areas who lost everything. In comparison, it seems small what we went through.

It has been a full year since the disaster in our home and we are living gratefully and with much happiness and joy. And as always I am so grateful to Mary Burmeister for all the wonderful ways she has shown us to live our lives – one breath, one flow, and one moment at a time.

Thank you, Sara.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

Gassho, Namaste, Blessings
