As Above, So Below… (Part 1)

From The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, Number 70, Fall 2010, Lynne Pflueger shares her experience with Mary Burmeister’s lesson from Text 1, page 13:

As Above, So Below ~ So Below, As Above

“I will give you the KEYS of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you shall BIND on earth shall have been BOUND in heaven, and whatever you shall LOOSE on earth shall have been LOOSENED in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)

My note from one of Mary’s classes says, “Very Important”.

That was easy enough to understand intellectually. The question in my mind was how to use that information. My own understanding of Jin Shin Jyutsu has come through practice. Like learning to cook, I had to get into the kitchen and practice. With practice, the above principle became crystal clear. I have two stories to tell that were my teachers.

The first involved a high school basketball star. He had broken his ankle, the cast was off, and was told that he was not ready to play yet. He would have to sit out the regional playoffs. My son Chris was a freshman at the time, and I had just completed one class in 1979. Chris suggested to the star, that he might want to get some help from “my mom, who just attended a Jin Shin Jyutsu class.” The boy was willing because of course he was desperate to play, and the team desperately needed him. Unwilling to tell his mother that he had agreed to this out-of-the-mainstream-thing, he arrived at my house during his lunch break, telling me that I had one week. What flow to use for the miracle? I decided to use the Umbilicus Flow because it would pull energy up, and I would be touching Safety Energy Lock 16 that surely would help the ankle. The 12 and 20 as part of this flow would LOOSEN below. Lunch break was not very long so he probably received a 30-40 minute session. Again, the next day, the same thing… Most likely I used other flows as well – for instance, a 9 Flow which is good for same side ankles.

This went on for five days, some sessions shorter than others. My son brought home nightly reports of progress. Excited students noticed that each day their star walked better, limped less. The week almost up, he went to see his doctor who said he could not understand it, but the ankle and foot were O.K. to play! They won the championship.

Shortly afterwards, the handsome teenager arrived at my door with a bouquet of flowers. He was very grateful and said a wonderful thing, “I don’t know what you do, but it worked and it’s really scary.”
