The Little Man on the Ear…

Acupuncture points on the ear are effectively used to treat illness. In 1957, Dr. Nogier  developed a map of the ear based upon the inverted fetus concept, when he observed the occurrence of scars on the ears of a patient who were successfully treated for sciatic pain by French lay practitioners.  Auricular acupuncture is a treatment system based on normalizing the body’s pain and dysfunction through stimulation of points on the ear. Resulting amelioration of pain and illness is believed to be through the reticular formation through the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

His work was first presented in France and then published by a German acupuncture society and then finally translated into Chinese. In 1958, a massive study was initialed by Nanking Army Ear Acupuncture research team which verified the clinical accuracy of Dr. Nogier’s inverted man concept of, the little man on the ear.

In 1980, a double blind experimentally controlled research study at UCLA Pain Management Center department of anesthesiology UCLA School of Medicine conducted a research study by Richard J. Kroeuning M.D., Ph.D and Terry D. Oleson Ph.D. This study reported in PAIN verified the scientific accuracy of auricular (ear) diagnosis. There is a statistically significant level of 75% accuracy achieved in diagnosing musculoskeletal pain problems in 40 pain patients. Specific areas of height and tenderness and increased electrical activity on the ear predicted specific areas of the body where some pain or dysfunction would be identified whereas the body free of pathology corresponded to non-active points on the ear. These points can be treated with needles, or without needles using electrical stimulation or small pellets or seeds applied with tape and pressed to stimulate the points.

Text 2, Bladder and Kidney Function Energies, Part 2

We continue our review of Cynthia (Lenssen) Broshi’s article about Bladder and Kidney Function Energies in issue Number 46, Fall 2004 of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter. You may obtain this issue at http://www.jsjinc.net.

Bladder Function Energy

“Born at Safety Energy Lock 20 (Perpetual Consciousness), Left and Right Bladder Function Energy ascend to the center top of the head – as close as the bodily “I” gets to the heavens – where they intermingle. Bladder Function builds my being with Libra, which is ruled by Venus. This goddess expresses Balance, Harmony, Beauty and Relatedness. Immediately Bladder Function moves from duality – left and right, masculine and feminine, “I” and the Universe – to One. Libra is the seventh sign of the Zodiac (7: Perfect Life Power, Law) and while the previous six build my individual Being, Libra sees there is no separation of my self and others. Bladder Function is Love for the entire system. Love for the deserts and the rainforests of my mind, for every prince and pauper, nut and bolt that make up the culture in which I live. 4th Depth fear can result in judgments, blaming, phobias, prejudice, etc. etc. etc. On Page 43, Text 2, I see that Bladder Function Energy returns home to the Main Central between the 13s (13: Love Thy Enemies). Bladder Function, one of my three Face Flows, clears the mind from head to toe. It releases fears from 13 – the Fountain of Youth – restoring the Beauty of Venus. Bladder Function knows that every facet of Being, when in harmonious Flow, reflects every other – creating the brilliance of the jewel of We IS.

Mary tells me that Bladder Function Energy is to Text 2 what the Main Central is to Text 1. Wow! I’m certain I don’t completely understand this, but the flow’s choreography through space gives me a beginning. In Text 1, the “infinite aesthetic powers of the Creator”, circulating as Main Central Vertical Harmonizing Energy, separates into Left, Right, and Center, expressing Trinity. Bladder Function Energy, from the area of the Crown Chakra, separates into two parts (Duality, Balance). One flows to the earlobe and scatters, energizing my capacity to be attentive and to hear. As well, we know from Traditional Chinese Medicine that the entire body is represented in the ear, an organ which is key to balance. One part enters the brain, emerges as two rivers (Duality, again) on each side of the spine, then separates further so that the three rivers – my personal trinity – flow down the left and right side of the back.

The medial line of this trinity, from the coccyx circulates the bladder, kidney, and rectum, aiding the 4th Depth function of elimination. One aspect of this line’s janitorial sweep “ascends”. Where? Perhaps to rejoin Trinity – “Matter is the lowest degree of Spirit, Spirit the highest degree of matter.” – Mary. At Safety Energy Lock 25 (7: Perfect Life Power) the two more lateral lines recombine, returning Bladder Function to the earthiness of  Duality. From 25 and side of coccyx the two rivers descend to join at Safety Energy Lock 8 (as above, so below), from which a single stream descends into the little toe – as far as the bodily “I” gets from heaven! Next time you walk barefoot notice how the little toes give ballast. They are the cornerstones of the pyramid of Mind, grounding the base, which holds aloft the apex of your crown. If they’re filled with old documents, treasures, fears, etc., I may feel a bit tipsy. Safety Energy Lock 6 (the number of 4th Depth) is the cause of dizziness, and cleaning out the little toes (for instance, with the Movement Order of Disharmony, page 49, Text 2) restores balance to body and mind.”

Text 2, Bladder and Kidney Function Energies, Part 1

Cynthia (Lenssen) Broshi writes about Bladder and Kidney Function Energies in issue Number 46, Fall 2004 of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter. You may obtain this issue at http://www.jsjinc.net.

“Within the revolving volume of above and below, front and back, left and right which Trinity Energy creates, 12 Organ Function Energy begins the formation of specific bodily structures and functions, as well as “the invisible consciousness, voice and energy” (Page 3, Text 2). A single flow of energy which transforms in vibration twelve times during its twenty-four hour cycle (a magician!), 12 Organ Function Energy develops, protects and repairs my Being. I’ll never forget Muriel’s reply when I asked her about the accuracy of the line drawings of this flow in our Text 2: “If I could truly see the 12 Organ Function I’d see dynamic, swirling rivers of colored light.” She pointed out that these rivers widen to encapsulate or flood an entire organ, flow along a rib or saturate a single vertebra, narrow to the width of a fingernail’s edge. As well, 12 Organ Function cycles through its twelve transformations annually, an ordered rhythm in sync with the fluid melody of the seasons.

12 Organ Function Energy is like the language of Trinity, the syntax that connects all pure Thoughts of Supervisor. Thought (Safety Energy Locks, the Depths), breathed into Being by the Main Central, activated by Diagonal Mediator, at this vibration of “individualized” body function energy, begins the story of “me”. 12 Organ Function expresses the Zodiac into the Blueprint, weaving a passionate Light-Body (Light-World), an abode for the gods (divine aspects of Being). Within the Universal One, I am made individual. Time, place and rhythm form my unique being, a unique relationship of all the gods and goddesses’ capacities, desires and actions.

Bladder and Kidney Function Energies are the expression of 4th Depth within the vibration of 12 Organ Function Energy. 4th Depth (Mercury: Transformation) is Water, the stuff of life on this earth. Mary says that 6, the number of 4th Depth, is “Evolution applied to the experience of individualized living things.” Fourth Depth is Man, an individual, in the Flow – the energy I receive from generations past, and the fulfillment of my destiny. Bladder and Kidney Function tell me that to BE Flow is to BE Source. Their consciousness makes me an artist.

Small Intestine Function transforms into Bladder Function Energy at 4:00 pm (4: Creation), a.k.a. 16:00 (16: Many’s Destiny, basis for all human undertakings). Bladder Function (4th Depth: Water) expresses Libra (Air: 2nd Depth), and through this flow I become acquainted with the powerful relationship of 4th Depth and 2nd Depth. Bladder Function is all about opposites and their relationship: Bladder is the color green, the color of Safety Energy Lock 3, of 3rd Depth, of Mediator, of Spring; yet it comes into its greatest power at the Autumnal Equinox.”

I’m thinking about the “try-tos”…

TRYING TOO HARD?

“Thinking about interior peace destroys interior peace. The patient who constantly feels his pulse is not getting any better.”
— Hubert van Zeller

Are you trying too hard to be good, to be perfect, to be spiritual?

‘Trying too hard’ is an expression of fear. If you can replace the fear with faith that everything always serves our highest good, your confidence and peace of mind will serve your aspirations.

“So many people work so hard, to achieve, attain, accumulate and cherish their fortunes. How many of us blissfully fill our days and nights being the Divine expression we are? This is the meaning of life. It is to be. As a result, all of your creations are a natural outflow from the Divine within your being. This is the joy of life.”
— Barbara Rose

I’m thinking about health and help…

HEALTH AND HELP

“More tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones.”
— Mother Teresa

If we are prompted to ask for spiritual blessings for ourselves or others, how do we best do this?

Speaker Kimberly Herkert offers that it is best to simply ask the divine for health and help. As human beings, we are not capable of seeing the big picture for anyone’s situation. As a result, we are not able to judge what is best for anyone, including ourselves.

The Higher Power always knows best, and the general prayer for ‘health and help’ acknowledges the wisdom that exists there and our faith in divine will.

“God answers prayer in His own way, not ours.”
— Mohandas Gandhi

I’m thinking about gratitude…

WHAT ARE YOU LACKING?

“Money cannot fill an empty soul.”
— Julia Cameron & Mark Bryan

Where in your life are you experiencing lack?

Are you experiencing a lack of self esteem? Of humour? Of energy? Of love? Of money and abundance? Whatever you believe you are missing, it is there to be claimed.

The first step starts with shifting your perspective. See the glass as half full rather than half empty. Focus on accepting and appreciating what you DO have, and more will be attracted to you.

“Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend… when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present — love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure — the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.”
— Sarah Ban Breathnach

I’m thinking about stillness…

TAKE TIME TO BE STILL

“Work is not always required … there is such a thing as sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected.”
— George MacDonald

When was the last time you did absolutely nothing?

Our world is so addicted to productivity that we feel guilty if we’re not doing something. But taking time daily to be still and inactive opens us to the spacious present. It nurtures and restores balance. Give yourself a regular gift of inactivity.

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.”
— Sir J. Lubbock

Text 2, Heart/Small Intestine Function, Part 3

We continue reading what Petra Elmendorff wrote about Leo/Heart Function – Virgo/Small Intestine – Song of Light ~ Song of Love in issue Number 44, Spring 2004 of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter. You may obtain this issue at http://www.jsjinc.net.

“When the Finger Flow, Virgo/Small Intestine, begins to receive the energy from Leo/Heart, the experience of the vibration of Fire (Chest Flow) moves into the vibration of Earth.

Now the release of power and love has to be applied to earth. It needs to be cradled and touched, to be handled. Craft is lived and put to “work”, so it will serve the earthy living. After the exuberant radiance of the Fire, the strong sensitivity of Virgo/Small Intestine for details will put a hand on its expression and name and sort out life.

Virgo wants to dedicate the released creativity to a purpose. This purpose has to serve the whole. Attention is paid to details because the pattern of the tapestry of the whole is perceived. As the 6th sign in the Zodiac, Virgo is also living that 6, balancing and discriminating. With analyzing, improving and healing, love becomes tangible. The expression of “unconditional love” of the Finger Flows, as Mary calls them, displays itself as prudence and care, always being of service.

On the manifested level, the whole body is influenced by the well-being of the Small Intestine flow. This is the place where tedious discrimination discerns nourishment from elimination.

If Virgo/Small Intestine energy is in disharmony, there could be stress in the digestion. If the sensitivity of Virgo is on overload, the digestion of life – body, mind and spirit – will be disturbed. Extreme overreaction to details can occur (such as “food” allergies). Loss of the view of the whole picture is the result. A tight shoulder might reveal the “trying to cope”, the attempt to match the perfect pictures, the ought’s and should’s. Judgement of others and self is extreme, the analyzing capacity becomes cutting like a knife, denying the heritage of Spirit.

In the word “Virgo” we find yet one of the deepest meanings of the Small Intestine function.

“Virgo” in old times meant untouched, virgin. The power of this Virgo/Small Intestine function energy provides the awareness of that purity inside of myself. No matter what dance life wants me to be part of, there is always that place inside of my being that is untouched by circumstances – the purity of my soul. Mary said: “…each day [apply] this flow and it will keep you young.”

In disharmony, the feeling of impurity might burden the intestines. Research has shown a relationship of chronic colitis (Crohn’s disease, etc.) to the experience of sexual abuse. Here, the sense of purity in Virgo is extremely injured, and often people carry an intense feeling of being soiled, always feeling “dirty”.

In harmony, Virgo is love expressed in humble care for the seeds of my life’s creations, craft and devotion to serve the Spirit.”

Thank you, Petra.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

Text 2, Heart/Small Intestine Function, Part 2

We continue reading what Petra Elmendorff wrote about Leo/Heart Function – Virgo/Small Intestine – Song of Light ~ Song of Love in issue Number 44, Spring 2004 of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter. You may obtain this issue at http://www.jsjinc.net.

“In disharmony, it might not be easy to stay true to oneself. One might not be able to speak from the heart, or listen to it. All heart affairs can get affected. Issues around owning up to my power, projections of authority on someone or something outside of myself can arise – giving my power away. Sometimes there is no allowance to trust one’s own unique expression of creativity, a tendency to push that fire aside. On the the other hand, in disharmony, Leo/Heart energy can harden and can begin to be forceful and willful with oneself or others. Compassion will be locked up in an armored heart, the ability to have sight and vision might turn into blindness – of body, mind and spirit. Self-awareness becomes self-forgetting, like in Alzheimer’s disease.

A tremendous power of will and passion is stored in Leo/Heart fire, to fuel and guide my spiritual journey home. This Fire of Fire (Leo fire and fire of the 5th Depth) provides the flame that purifies my being. It is that warm, strong and silent flame that creates a compassionate joy and love for life.

In the journey of the soul from Aries/Lung to Leo/Heart, Leo is the 5th sign. The development of man (5) has come to a culmination. Now on this level, the direct experience of the Light of the Creator inside of myself is available. Intense realization of the amalgamation of body and spirit is the gift…the awakening to the fact that Spirit is residing in the heart and is manifesting itself in all creative expressions. I am a child of God.

Now Virto/Small Intestine energy is born from this awareness. This 6th sign in the Zodiac is a gate to the transition of consciousness…so is the 12th sign at the end of this journey. It is creating the bridge (6 is the number of 4th Depth) to the new focus of awareness that will later manifest in Libra/Bladder function energy and continue ’til the end of the Zodiac. Here consciousness is moving into the 2nd half of the cycle: the opening to the “you”, the surrender, the return to home. (On the Main Central Vertical level, Thoracic 6 and 12 on pages 41-45, Text 1, seem to mirror some of that path through quality.)”

I’m thinking about being alone…

BEING ALONE

“I wish Pooh were here. It’s so much more friendly with two.”
— Piglet (A.A. Milne)

Are you willing to be alone?

Ingrid Bacci says, “If you are afraid of being alone, you are dependent on others for your sense of self, and if you are dependent on others, you block your receptivity to inner guidance. Being willing to be alone involves being willing to be different, to have commitments and values that don’t blend with any crowd.”

“Man’s loneliness is but his fear of life.”
— Eugene O’Neill

“I celebrate myself, and sing myself.”
— Walt Whitman
