Jin Shin Jyutsu Highways (continued)

Self-Help Books ~ The Travel Maps

Iole Lebensztajn offers an article about Self-Help in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, Number 30, Fall 2000:

“On page 15, Mary also tells us to focus on the “tune-up” not the “fixing”. This reminds me page 32 (3+2=5 is the first Safety Energy Lock of the 2nd Depth) in which Mary repeats the same concept in other words, “BE the focusing on harmonizing”. On this same page she talks about the Physio-Philosophy, Physio-Psychology and Physio-Physiology that help the balanced expression of spirit, mind and body (bustline, waistline and hip line). The balanced expression of these three dimensions of our Being is the primary intention of 2nd Depth.

At the bottom of page 32, Mary also tells us that each day is new and adds, “So, waste not today in yesterdays and tomorrows. SMILE and Know Myself, BE the NOW”. So forgive and exhale your past. And remember that the walk we make is by walking. So let’s BE the best step we can NOW. The 2nd Depth is “nine-ing” all the time. Safety Energy Lock 9 rules our feet preparing us to stroll, flowing through our life pathway, to receive (inhale) the present.

By this really short journey (just pages 15 and 32 of Book III), we can observe that in the Self-Help Books Mary makes available for us the more complex and profound concepts of the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu with simplicity and FUN. Everything is already there waiting for us to be ready to read and understand…and “Jin Shin Jyutsu is an art which molds into your own ‘individualized art of LIVING”. (Book I page 23) In other words, through the 3 Books Mary shows us the non-secret secret of this complicatedly simple Art that is available for us, the artists, in any depth we want to Know IT, BE IT.

I truly encourage you to visit these books. They are maps that lead you into yourself. As you travel these unique highways, you learn about your resources, your nature…you find more than you can imagine and everything you need. It’s all yours to enjoy. There is plenty to know and see, regardless of the “season”. I hope you come back again and again to Now Know Myself…and share with us your adventures.”

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

Thank you, Iole.

I’m thinking about SEL 15…

…about 2nd Depth, the element Air, Safety Energy Lock 15

In the book Zero to Twenty-Six, excerpts from The Main Central, Matthias Roth comments on Safety Energy Lock 15:

“15 is the party at the end of second depth…

From (SEL) 5, man, to (SEL) 14, man, important building has happened in the second depth and now there is Joy. From spirit at the bustline through mind at the waistline we have landed in a laughing happy body at the groin. No valley of tears, no vile nether region waiting to be transcended, the EARTH (15) of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a garden of Joy and Happiness. If it doesn’t feel that way to you, 15 is just the one for you!

As you laugh away sorrow through an open 15, all second depth sadness melts away. In the sun of your happiness new ideas are hatched and old attachments wither ~ with them, the sadness-seeds of major labels melt away. The “fifteened” body lightens up: “my aching back” unloads its dreary bundle, straightens up and stays that way. And heavy legs, once they have laughed their head off, enjoy the lightness of their youthful days. Once your heart is washed in laughter, moving ahead in body, mind and spirit becomes the fun it used to be.

Sticks and stones may hurt my bones but 15’s are there to help me. Broken bones and sprains will hurry back to normal in the champagne-bubble-lightness of an open fifteen. With children laughing several hundred times a day and adults only a few times, you can understand that ‘unless you become like children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven’. It is through joy that we rise back into spirit. So when you feel too stern for laughter or when your doing has weighed you down, just be the holding of your little finger and feel the smile you are rise to the surface.”

Jin Shin Jyutsu Highways

Self-Help Books ~ The Travel Maps

Iole Lebensztajn offers an article about Self-Help in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, Number 30, Fall 2000:

“I’m always amazed about how Mary has manifested the Self-Help Books. As this is an Autumn issue of the Main Central, and Autumn is related to 2nd Depth, I chose to look for 2nd Depth messages traveling through the Self-Help Book III. What follows are some souvenirs that I brought for you from my expedition.

Before startlng my expedition, I have checked some of the points of interest I would look for: Air is the element that represents 2nd Depth. Air is connected to the world of thoughts, ideas, words, etc. The element Air rules communication, the flow of information, messages or thoughts. When we think about Air we remember the breathing process. In Jin Shin Jyutsu, we understand that breathing does not happen just through the lungs’ work, but it involves every organ, every cell of our entire body, and we may say, our entire Being (spirit, mind and body). To breathe is to allow the Universal Harmonizing Energy to flow through our entire Being.

With these concepts in mind, I looked at Self-Help Book III. I remembered that there was something related to the 2nd Depth on page 15 where Mary presents one of the finger poses that helped Jiro Murai to heal himself. There she teaches us that touching the ring fingernail with the palm side of thumb will aid to ease our breathing. We know that ring fingers help the 2nd Depth at the attitude level. At the top of this same page she says, “One is where one’s thoughts are. Thoughts create words and words create deeds. Thoughts directly affect the body.” You see how she is telling us that ring finger, breathing, thoughts and words are all related, without talking explicitly about 2nd Depth or Air element. What about the page? Page 15! Safety Energy Lock 15 (the last Safety Energy Lock of the 2nd Depth) aids to create new ideas (thoughts) and adaptations, and also helps Safety Energy Locks 3 and 6 , who are breathing helpers.”

To be continued…

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

Thank you, Iole.

I’m thinking…

…about physics ~ since quantum mechanics is the scientific basis of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I decided to try to wrap my brain around that.

Knowing little or nothing, I first read “The Holographic Universe” by Michael Talbot. That, though simplified for the layperson, required a few readings. I have just begun to read the second suggested book, “The Dancing Wu Li Masters” by Gary Zukav. This is an overview of the New Physics in a basic, easy to understand format. I highly recommend that you, dear readers, obtain these books and enjoy the adventurous journey into awareness and understanding.

I am reading this book with a highlighter in my hand. With full credit to Mr. Zukav, I am going to now quote a couple of his statements:

I thought that physics would be impossible for me to comprehend at my rather advanced age. What do physicists do anyway? “What physicists do, however, is actually quite simple. They wonder what the universe is really made of, how it works, what we are doing in it, and where it is going, if it is going anyplace at all.” “The fact is that physics is not mathematics. Physics, in essence, is simple wonder at the way things are and a divine (some call it compulsive) interest in how that is so. Mathematics is the tool of physics. Stripped of mathematics, physics becomes pure enchantment.”

The author attended a conference where he met Al Chung-liang Huang, a T’ai Chi Master who was leading a workshop. The author reports, “When I studied physics in Taiwan,” said Huang, “we called it Wu Li (pronounced ‘Woo Lee’). It means ‘Patterns of Organic Energy.'” “Wu Li” is the Chinese phrase for physics. It also means “nonsense”, “my way”, “I clutch my ideas”, and “enlightenment”. I posted this explanation for “Dancing Masters” on 9/12/14 in my blog category, “Thoughts”. You an check the archives, if you like.

Telling us that mathematics is the most concise expression of physics, M. Zukav points out that both mathematics and English are languages. All a language can do is talk about an experience. Wu Li Masters know that a description of an experience is not the experience. It is only talk about it. When I read the book, the experience is coming from me, not the book. “Quantum mechanics, for example, shows us that we are not as separate from the rest of the world as we once thought. Particle physics shows us that the “rest of the world” does not sit idly “out there”. It is a sparkling realm of continual creation, transformation, and annihilation. The ideas of the new physics, when wholly grasped, can produce extraordinary experiences. The study of relativity theory, for example, can produce the remarkable experience that space and time are only mental constructions!” “This is the message of the Wu Li Masters: not to confuse the type of dance that they are doing with the fact that they are dancing.”

Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy is like that; it is not the application of technique, but rather the demonstration of art. As we find in Text 1 “…simply Being the channel through which flow infinite aesthetic powers of the Creator.” “Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy lectures and demonstrations offer a way of Being to help MYSELF, help others and to KNOW Cosmic Oneness.”

I invite you to wonder with me and begin to KNOW.

Gassho, I acknowledge that we are one

Namaste, the god in me bows to the god in you

Blessings, may peace fill your lives

Know Myself…

…BE IT IS, IS

Iole Lebensztajn offers an article about Self-Help in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, Number 35, Winter 2002:

“For many years I have been wondering about the meaning of this acronym that appears in the Self Help Book 3 and in the Textbooks: Know Myself BE IT IS, IS. BE the Infinite Truth, the Infinite Self, the Impersonal Self. As we see at page 49 of Self Help Book 2, it has to do with unloading all attitudes.

We know that fear is the core of all attitudes. Fear happens when we believe in lack and limitation, but this is False Evidence Appearing Real. There is not lack and limitation. The Infinite Truth is that “all that is needed for harmony and balance…is within MYSELF” (Self Help Book 1, p. 3). There is enough of everything for everybody. There is enough money, work, food, love, intelligence, power…In fact, it is Infinite when I am in touch with the Source of the Universal Harmonizing Energy. This is the Truth.

Fear affects 4th depth, the “bridge into spirit”. When the bridge is not functioning accordingly, it is more challenging to access the spirit (6th depth). When I am well connected to the spirit, I become aware that we are all one. When I am not connected, I feel myself alone and separated from the ONE Infinite Self of which I am part. In this condition I can not realize that My Self is infinite in terms of time and space. In fact, there is no end. Life is a continuous process of transformation, an everlasting will to express itself in infinite forms.

Attitudes prevent me being the Impersonal Self. The nature of the Self is to BE, and not to stick to any doing, trying, having or hiding behind a mask. (The etymological root of the word “persona” is mask.) When I become prisoner of one pattern, one mask, I lose the ability to express myself anew in each moment. This is what we call attitudes. Dropping the mask, the Impersonal Self (with no mask) arises and I can fully express myself and realize that “we are human BE-ings, not human TRY-ings, or DO-ings, or STRIVE-ings ~ (Self Help Book 1, p. 7). There is nothing that I have to personally do or have in order to be happy, to be in harmony or to be alive. We are just simply human BE-ings. I do not do or have life. Being who I am, I create and express Life in my unique way.

Know Myself is to know that we are all Infinite. We are Infinite Self, Infinite Love, Infinite Blessings, Infinite Happiness, Infinite Receiving and Sharing the Universal Harmonizing Energy…As Mary Says: “Thank you, God!”

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

Thank you, Iole.

I’m thinking…

…about how skeptical I was when I first heard about Jin Shin Jyutsu

…and how passionate about it I am today; compelled to teach self-help to anyone who will listen.

My post today in the Jin Shin Jyutsu category pretty much says it. I’ve taken 9 five-day classes, several workshops and “Living the Art” class which qualified me to teach self-help. I also belong to a NJ JSJ study group and have just started a local group in my town.

Officially retired now, that is what I do: teach self-help. With gratitude to David Burmeister, I am permitted to teach self-help right here in this blog. I present volunteer classes in and around my community. I teach as I was taught, and as Matthias Roth suggested in today’s post. I teach not as a traditional teacher, but as a master would teach. Not that I am, nor do I think of myself, a master, but I learned the difference in a wonderful book by Gary Zukav; The Dancing Wu Li Masters.

Let me take a step back to explain. As a former EMT and Western medicine believer, when I was introduced to Jin Shin Jyutsu in 2004, quite by “accident”, I permitted a lovely woman to give me a session only because she was so kind and loving. Once on the table, expecting nothing, I was astonished to experience immediate and lasting improvement of several dis-harmonies after only one 50 minute session. I remember saying to myself, “I don’t know what this is and I don’t know how it works, but I’m going to find out.” And I have been on a journey of amazing discovery since then.

One of my early questions to various teachers was, “What is the scientific basis of Jin Shin Jyutsu?” I never got an answer, but was deftly and kindly directed to focus my attention on learning from the textbooks. After two years, I finally asked the correct question, “Is quantum mechanics the scientific basis of Jin Shin Jyutsu?” Now I received affirmation that I was on the right track!

So I added the study of the new physics to my pursuit of understanding Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy. I have to live to be 350 years old in order to wrap my brain around both arts!

The first book I read was “The Holographic Universe” by Michael Talbot. I had to read it twice. It took two years to begin to understand that book. Now I have moved on to Gary Zukav’s book, which is even more astonishing.

Zukav writes, ” The Chinese language does not use an alphabet like western languages. Each word in Chinese is depicted by a character, which is a line drawing (Sometimes two or more characters are combined to form different meanings.) This is why it is difficult to translate Chinese into English. Good translations require a translator who is both a poet and a linguist.

For example, “Wu” can mean either “matter” or “energy.” “Li” is a richly poetic word. It means “universal order” or “universal law”. It also means “organic patterns.” The grain in a panel of wood is Li. the organic pattern on the surface of a leaf is also Li, and so is the texture of a rose petal. In short, Wu Li, the Chinese word for physics, means”patterns of organic energy” (“matter/energy” [Wu] + “universal order/organic patterns” [Li].”)”

“The first (of more than 80) meanings, Wu Li means “Patterns of Organic Energy.” This is the Chinese way of saying “physics.” “The second Wu Li means “My Way.” “The third Wu Li means “Nonsense”. The fourth Wu Li means “I clutch My ideas”. The fifth Wu Li means “Enlightenment”.

I get it! I love it!

As for understanding the term “master”, as opposed to a pattern of learning from the outside inward: 1) simple addition, 2) long division, 3) algebra, 4)physics, 5) subatomic particles ~ the master “…begins from the center and not from the fringe. He imparts an understanding of the basic principles of the art before going on to the meticulous details, and he refused to break down the t’ai chi movements into a one-two-three drill so as to make the student a robot.” “A Master teaches essence. When the essence is perceived, he teaches what is necessary to expand the perception.” “In this way, the Wu Li Master dances with his student.”

This is how I learn, and teach, Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy.

Gassho, Namaste, Blessings.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Help

~ Getting to KNOW (Help) Myself

Matthias Roth offers an article about Self-Help in The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, Number 34, Fall 2001:

As an organization of Jin Shin Jyutsu instructors, we wish to turn the attention of our students, practitioners and clients to the gift of Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help. Self-Help is the birth and core of Jin Shin Jyutsu. Through self-help, Jiro Murai first proved the efficiency of the Art to himself and from his self-healing, began the journey of its rediscovery. In self-help, the student receives the empowering message through experience that he or she can actually be self-sufficient.

It was Mary Burmeister who, in years of study and dedication, further condensed the essence of the teachings of the Art into three simple self-help books which, unpretentious and unassuming, provide the student, advanced or neophyte, with the dynamic tools for self-sufficiency. These books are written from direct experience. They are not intellectual treatises and sometimes confound the western mind with their simplicity and pensive, slow pace.

In a self-help class, the student at once approaches the use and understanding of one or several of these simple, profound books and through them, the philosophy and the most practical tools of the Art. The tools can then immediately be used for oneself and family while the philosophy may gently shift one’s focus away from the attitudes that keep reproducing the same stresses.

While self-help classes are not a prerequisite for attending a five-day basic seminar, we strongly recommend them as a preparation and introduction. For a list of qualified self-help instructors or for a complete listing of self-help classes taught by our principal instructors and IT IS instructors, please contact the office or consult our website.

I’m thinking…

…about The Invaders

In careless patches through the wood                                                                                                   The clumps of yellow primrose stood,                                                                                                   And sheets of white anemones,                                                                                                                   Like driven snow against the trees,                                                                                                         Had covered up the violet,                                                                                                                            But left the blue-bell bluer yet.

Along the narrow carpet ride,                                                                                                                   With primroses on either side,                                                                                                                 Between their shadows and the sun,                                                                                                     The cows came slowly, one by one,                                                                                                       Breathing the early morning air                                                                                                             And leaving it still sweeter there.

And, one by one, intent upon                                                                                                                   Their purposes, they followed on                                                                                                               In ordered silence…and were gone.

But all the little wood was still,                                                                                                                     As if it waited so, until                                                                                                                                   Some blackbird on an outpost yew,                                                                                                           Watching the slow procession through,                                                                                                       Lifted his yellow beak at last                                                                                                                       To whistle that the line had passed….                                                                                                         Then all the wood began to sing                                                                                                                   Its morning anthem to the spring.

Our Animal Friends, Part 4

Issue Number 40, Spring 2003, of The Main Central Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter contains an article submitted by Adele Leas.

Our Animal Friends

“For me, the entire experience was magical and again reminded me that sharing the benefits of Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy with the animals is the place I most deeply feel Mary’s acronym of FUN.

Fullfillment  I know the human/animal bond is being strengthened. Once people feel the beauty of the Universal Life Force through the pulse of their animals, it is much harder to believe in the myth of separation.

Understanding  The animals have been exquisite teachers, as well as students. I have learned vast amounts from my animal students by playing detective and reading clues from ear twitching, tail wagging, hair bristling and feet stomping. They have taught me about how receiving Jin Shin Jyutsu “sessions” feels to them as Safety Energy Locks and pathways are cleared. I have witnessed “nasty” animals suddenly become very willing to change as an attitude of fear and the accumulations of pain slip away. I have also learned from watching the animal/human partnerships just how beneficial it is to the animal when the person sharing the Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy is working from a place of harmony. I have observed how useful it is to have the intention of “Being with this Being in this gentle and loving art”, of letting go of outcome and not needing to “fix”.

No-thing  Again, I find the animals are wonderful teachers of Being, not Doing. They are natural teachers of harmony. This point was brought home to me in a dynamic way by Vic and his quiet ability to heal and be that beautiful creation of perfect harmony. FUN!”

Thank you, Adele.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.

I’m thinking…

…about The Three Foxes

Once upon a time there were three little foxes Who didn’t wear stockings, and they didn’t wear sockses, But they all had handkerchiefs to blow their noses, And they kept their handkerchiefs in cardboard boxes.

They lived in the forest in three little houses, And they didn’t wear coats, and they didn’t wear trousies. They ran through the woods on their little bare tootsies, And they played “Touch Last” with a family of mouses.

They didn’t go shopping in the High Street shopses, But caught what they wanted in the woods and copses. They all went fishing, and they caught three wormses, They went out hunting, and they caught three wopses.

They went to a Fair, and they all won prizes ~ Three plum-puddingses and three mince-pieses. They rode on elephants and swang on swingses, And hit three coco-nut shieses.

That’s all that I know of the three little foxes Who kept their handkerchiefs in cardboard boxes. They lived in the forest in three little houses, But they didn’t wear coats and they didn’t wear trousies, And they didn’t wear stockings and they didn’t wear sockses.
