Be Your Jumper Cable ~ Self-Help Jin Shin Jyutsu
“The simple stress reliever is our hands, the jumper cables. It is the least known or most fearful tool for mankind due to the unawareness and misunderstanding of being simple or just Being. Yet unconsciously one is always using our hands, but consciously we are afraid of its simplicity.” ~ Mary Burmeister
From Mary we know that the foundation of Jin Shin Jyutsu is in self-help, having manifested in Jiro Murai’s self healing experience from a terminal illness using the Breath and the finger poses. Mary herself listened to Jiro Murai not to help others, but to BE NOW KNOW MYSELF. Only after 17 years of study did she apply her jumper cables to others.
Mary asks us these questions in Self-Help Book 2: “Are you using-Being your ‘Jumper Cable’? Are you your own testimony?” Her response is, “If you have spent a minimum of thirty minutes to an hour a day applying the art (being your ‘Jumper Cable’), you are your own testimony”.
To help us to be the jumper cable, Mary wrote the 3 Self-Help Books, a task that took her 40 years. Embedded in these three books is not only the procedures for self-help, but also the depth of Mary’s wisdom, understanding and awareness. Mary tells us about the Breath in Self-Help Book 3, as follows: “Know that to Be the Breath of Life is to Be the phenomena and the dynamic forces in mind and body. One begins to feel the rhythmic beating of the heart, feel the spine straightening up and the whole being becoming weightless. Breathing becomes easier and rhythmic – a SMILE begins to surface from deep within bringing with it a total sense of Cosmic Unconditional Love and Peace.”
So Self-Help Books 1, 2 and 3 were written to tune us into the Breath and the One Cosmic Rhythm of the Trinity. Mary brings to our attention that “as one’s own Physio-Philosophy (awareness of myself) and Physio-Psychology (understanding of Myself) grow, that one will find that all is contained in Self-Help Books 1, 2 and 3.” She says, “All answers to questions are in the three Self-Help Books. All the Jin Shin Jyutsu student needs is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration (experience) – that’s all. Have fun with each of them.”
Thank you, Mary.
