Harmonizing the Attitudes through Fingers & Hand

In my last post in the category “All About Mary”, we finished reviewing Mary Burmeister’s 3 Self-Help books. Book 3 was about “FUN with FINGERS and TOES”. As I prepared each post for that book, I marveled at the physical, emotional and spiritual abilities of our own fingers and hands.

I’ve thought about the healing experienced when hugged by another in times of grief. I’ve thought about how Jesus healed so many by the laying on of his hands. I’ve thought about others, like Smith Wigglesworth, who also healed with the laying on of hands and there are many more in history and in the present. I’ve thought about how a child’s scraped knee can be healed with his mother’s touch.

Each finger and palm represent depths, body organs, attitudes, even ascending or descending flows.  One of my daily practices is to take 36 conscious breaths while gently holding each finger and palm. Also, before I ever even heard of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I suffered many illness and injuries resulting in the need of Western medicine and surgical correction. I will never know if it all could have been avoided had I practiced Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Help from childhood, but it is what it is and now I know how to help myself with my growing awareness and understanding of this ancient Art.

I have had several spinal injuries resulting in two surgeries that left me with chronic pain. Pain killers and muscle relaxers can ease my pain, but there are many negative side effects of medication. Through a growing awareness and understanding of my body functions I’ve learned to change my diet, exercise as much as I can, meditate and love and help others (yes, this is a critical component in my ability to harmonize my body, mind and spirit).

Studying Jin Shin Jyutsu as taught by our wonderful teachers has revealed how the body works. I know more about the circulation of energy and opening Safety Energy Locks. For instance, in addition to practicing the 36 breaths and holding fingers daily, when my spine has great discomfort, there are some things I can do with my hands to help myself. I’ve learned from taking many 5-day basic seminars that the sides of my index fingers have relationship with my kidney and bladder functions. The flows of these two body function energy travel in 5 descending paths on either side of the spine. If I gently hold the sides of my index fingers with the opposite hand thumb and index finger, the pain eases within 20 minutes. Also, if I gently wrap my fingers around my little finger, I will also find relief. This is because the little finger is related to the 5th Depth which is related (among other things) to the skeletal system.

So, beginning with the next post, I want to share my experience, strength and hope through understanding harmonizing “me” with fingers and hand.

One who embraces Tao will become pure and innocent like a newborn babe

Deadly insects will not sting him

Wild beasts will not attack him

Birds of prey will not strike him

He is oblivious to the union of male and female yet his vitality is full

his inner spirit is complete

He can cry all day without straining

so perfect is his harmony

so magically does he blend with this world

Know this harmony ~ it brings the Eternal

Know the Eternal ~ it brings enlightenment

A full life ~ this is your blessing

A gentle heart ~ this is your strength

Things in harmony with Tao remain

Things that are forced, grow for a while but then wither away

This is not Tao

Whatever is not Tao comes to an early end

5. SUMMARY

Mary says, “The Source of Energy for all the cells of the body is located in the PALMS and in the SOLES.”

HANDS, PALMS, FINGERS — FEET, SOLES, TOES

Aren’t they wonderful?

They are wonderful.

Aren’t they FUN?

They are FUN.

How often does one stop to think about them with Cosmic Unconditional Love. One does not pay attention to them until they do not function like they “should”. They are dynamic ~ beyond our wildest imagination. They contain the KEYS to the harmonious functioning of the whole being.

Know that holding (jumper cabling) fingers and palms as well as toes and soles directly and indirectly influences the various activities of the Main Central Vertical Flow. This will in turn control the various functions of the organs and glands, affecting one’s physical, mental and spiritual harmony.

In the Know Myself BE IT IS, IS. one begins to realize that they have been, are, will be at one’s service faithfully always.

Let’s just pause for a moment and give the body a big HUG. In hugging the body, place the THUMBS on the upper front part of the arms, on the joints of the front part of the arms and shoulders, and FINGERS by the sides of the scapula, shoulder blades. The THUMBS help to relax the lungs for easier breathing and the FINGERS help to clear the tension/stress in the shoulders.

Remember to BE the focusing on the HARMONIZER of the disharmony always and NOT the focusing on the disharmony itself. This is not for aches and pains only but in all phases of daily living.

Know that different thoughts result in different disorders ~ simple or complex labels. The answers are in the FINGERS and TOES.

As Plato said: “The best anyone can BE is to remind one of what one already KNOWS ~ not a journey of discovery, but for one of remembrance.”

SMILE.

Keep on SMILING and exhaling. The more one exhales, “gives”, the more one can inhale, “receive”, in abundance.

BE the FUN with FINGERS and TOES.

BE one’s own testimony. No other testimony can BE greater than that of MYSELF.

4. AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF HANDS-PALMS ~ FEET-SOLES

Now begins the FUN of being introduced to the HANDS, PALMS and FINGERS, FEET, SOLES and TOES.

LITTLE FINGERS ~ BIG TOES

(1)  I’m so embarrassed when I start stuttering. I panic and that doesn’t help matters.

(2)  I perspire so, it’s embarrassing.

(3)  I’m so thirsty all the time.

(4)  I try so hard, but I can’t seem to make much headway and I get so discouraged.

(5)  How can I be happy anyway?

(6)  I’m getting varicose veins and they’re beginning to hurt and look so ugly.

(7)  I have digestive problems and heartburn. That worries me.

(8)  My hearing is getting so bad.

(9)  I have ringing in my ears.

(10) My skin is so dry.

(11) I don’t seem to have any enthusiasm and joy left.

(12) I guess I’ll never succeed. I am a failure.

(13) I try walking to build up my strength, but even that doesn’t work. I feel worse after my walks.

(14) My baby, as young as it is, has insomnia.

(15) I broke my leg.

(16) I sprained my ankle.

(17) I’m so accident-prone.

(18) I have urinary problems.

(19) I have no energy.

(20) I have such a “sweet tooth”.

Mary says, “SMILE. It is as it is and KNOW AS IT IS, so IT IS. BE the NOW, knowing all one’s miseries are results of one’s ignorance of Myself.”

Hold (jumper cable) LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid bringing laughter into one’s life.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid harmonizing of vascular, nervous, muscular, skeletal energy circulatory systems.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid ear problems.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid digestive, assimilation, elimination functions.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid clearing one’s mind.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid bloat problems including swollen ankles.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid being able to think clearly as well as easing headaches.

LITTLE FINGERS and BIG TOES aid respiratory functions.

Mary says, “I can’t accept that. Change can’t to won’t and see that change in the picture. To change a negative AS IT IS simply change MYSELF.”

Wisdom always recognizes “wholeness”, “oneness”, while ignorance looks at, specializes, in a part or parts.

SEE the fingers and toes in wholeness and not as separate parts ~ the none-secret secret. One can be of little service to others or myself until one Knows Myself.

Know that to BE the Breath of Life is to BE the phenomena and the dynamic forces in mind and body. One begins to feel the rhythmic beating of the heart, feel the spine straightening up and the whole being becoming weightless.

Breathing becomes easier and rhythmic ~ a SMILE begins to surface from deep within bringing with it a total sense of Cosmic Unconditional Love and Peace.

If I had the least bit of wisdom I could follow the path of Tao quite well

My only fear would be trying to go my own way

The Great Path is simple and direct yet people love to take the side-routes

See how magnificent the courts have become

The women dress in colorful gowns

The men carry well-crafted swords

Food and drink overflow

Wealth and finery abound

Yet in the shadow of all this splendor

the fields grow barren

the granaries are all but empty

I say this pomp at the expense of others is like the boasting of thieves after a looting

(1)  I’m so out of harmony.

(2)  My emotions are “shot”.

(3)  I’m so unhappy and can’t seem to get myself out of it. I know better, but…but…but…

(4)  I’m a victim of my thoughts, my feelings, my desires. I can’t even breathe. My chest is so tight. I’m so full of mucus.

(5)  I sound weepy even when I’m not sad.

(6)  My skin, my body hair condition, my complexion, all the rashes ~ I’m just a sorry mess.

(7)  My eyes are bothering me.

(8)  I have digestive problems.

(9)  I have no energy, but the more I lie around the worse I feel.

Mary says, “Keep SMILING. Drop the shoulders. Melt them into the toes while exhaling.”

Hold (jumper cable) RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES.

RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES aid releasing tension/stress in the chest. They aid the respiratory function.

RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES aid energizing all body function energy.

RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES aid swallowing difficulties and digestive functions.

RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES aid bringing joy back into one’s being.

RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES aid clearing one’s mind.

INDEX TOES aid improving eyesight.

Mary says, “SMILE. Drop the shoulders. Relax. Melt the shoulders into the toes. Exhale, unload all dirt, dust and greasy grime. Inhale, receive in abundance the purified Cosmic Breath of Life while holding (jumper cabling) RING FINGERS and INDEX TOES.”

Breathing, exhaling, unloading, and inhaling, receiving, become easier and rhythmic. Mental clarity, physical energy and calming of the nervous system start taking place, a sense of total Peace.
