I’m thinking…

…about laws

“Then a lawyer said, But what of our Laws, master?
And he answered:
You delight in laying down laws,
Yet you delight in breaking them.
Like children playing by the ocean who build sand-towers with constancy and then destroy them with laughter.
But while you build your sand-towers the ocean brings more sand to the shore,
And when you destroy them the ocean laughs with you.
Verily the ocean laughs always with the innocent.

But what of those to whom life is not an ocean, and man-made laws are not sand-towers,
But to whom life is a rock, and the law a chisel with which they would carve it in their own likeness?
What of the cripple who hates dancers?
What of the ox who loves his yoke and deems the elk and deer of the forest stray and vagrant things?
What of the old serpent who cannot shed his skin, and calls all others naked and shameless?
And of him who comes early to the wedding-feast, and when over-fed and tired goes his way saying that all feasts are violation and all feasters lawbreakers?

What shall I say of these save that they too stand in the sunlight, but with their backs to the sun?
They only see their shadows, and their shadows are their laws.
And what is the sun to them but a caster of shadows?
And what is it to acknowledge the laws but to stoop down and trace their shadows upon the earth?
But you who walk facing the sun, what images drawn on the earth can hold you?
You who travel with the wind, what weather-vane shall direct your course?
What man’s law shall bind you if you break your yoke but upon no man’s prison door?
What laws shall you fear if you dance but stumble against no man’s iron chains?
And who is he that shall bring you to judgment if you tear off your garment yet leave it in no man’s path?

People of Orphalese, you can muffle the drum, and you can loosen the strings of the lyre, but who shall command the skylark not to sing?

Harmonizing the Attitudes through Fingers & Hand (Middle Finger)

Today I will share my experience and understanding of the middle finger and its relationship with the rest of my mind and body.

The middle finger has relationship with the 3rd Depth. 3rd Depth energy harmonizes and binds the 4 elements, keeping them in order. Mary said that the 3rd Depth is the quintessence, essence energy which supplies the body with energy of the 6th Depth (the Blueprint). The essence (life force) is transported in the blood, invisible but goes everywhere. 3rd Depth is the psychic energy binding the soul to the body, bringing our being into manifestation. It’s the energy for creation, the first in the source and the last to manifest in the body. 3rd Depth lives in both the invisible and visible world at the same time. Safety Energy Locks 16-22 are born in 3rd Depth.

The attitude for the middle finger is anger.

The index finger side of the middle finger is related to Gall Bladder Energy. The upper third of the index finger side of the middle finger relates to SEL 6; the middle third of the of the index finger side of the middle finger relates to SEL 13. This side of the middle finger is related to descending energy. Descending energy creates/builds and is related to the exhale, down the front.

The ring finger side of the middle finger is related to Liver Energy. The upper third of the ring finger side of the middle finger is related to SEL 3; the middle third of the ring finger side of the middle finger is related to SEL 12. The base of the ring finger side of the middle finger is related to SEL 25. The ring finger side of the middle finger is related to ascending energy. Ascending energy cleans/renews and is related to the inhale, up the back.

The middle finger corresponds with anger (“giving someone the bird”), irritability, indecisiveness. Physical symptoms are eye or vision problems, fatigue, circulation problems. In balance, one increases the capacity for compassion.

If one experiences any such disharmony, simply holding the middle finger gently while exhaling, then inhaling deeply, for even just a few minutes, will bring harmony back into balance.

This is a simple overview of the middle finger. There is much more to learn and understand, and I encourage you, wherever you may live, to find a 5-day basic seminar being taught in your area and register to take the class. You can find the information at http://www.jsjinc.net.

I’m thinking…

…about buying and selling

“And a merchant said, Speak to us of Buying and Selling.
And he answered:
To you the earth yields her fruit, and you shall not want if you but know how to fill your hands.
It is in exchanging the gifts of the earth that you shall find abundance and be satisfied.
Yet unless the exchange be in love and kindly justice, it will but lead some to greed and others to hunger.

When in the market place you toilers of the sea and fields and vineyards meet the weavers and the potters and the gatherers of spices, ~
Invoke then the master spirit of the earth, to come into your midst and sanctify the scales and the reckoning that weighs value against value.

And suffer not the barren-handed to take part in your transactions, who would sell their words for your labour.
To such men you should say,
“Come with us to the field, or go with our brothers to the sea and cast your net;
For the land and the sea shall be bountiful to you even as it is to us.”

And if there come the singers and the dancers and the flute players, ~ buy their gifts also.
For they too are gatherers of fruit and frankincense, and that which they bring, though fashioned of dreams, is raiment and food for your soul.

And before you leave the market place, see that no one has gone his way with empty hands.
For the master spirit of the earth shall not sleep peacefully upon the wind till the needs of the least of you are satisfied.”

Harmonizing the Attitudes through Fingers & Hand (Index Finger)

Today I will share my experience and understanding of the index finger and its relationship with the rest of my mind and body.

The index finger has relationship with the 4th Depth. 4th Depth energy builds the muscle layer of the body. 4th Depth connects us with inner wisdom. Only Safety Energy Lock 23 is born in 4th Depth.

The attitude for the index finger is fear.

The thumb side of the index finger is related to Bladder Energy. The upper third of the thumb side of the index finger relates to SEL 5; the middle third of the thumb side of the index finger relates to SEL 22. This side of the index finger is related to descending energy. Descending energy creates/builds and is related to the exhale, down the front.

The middle finger side of the index finger is related to Kidney Energy. The upper third of the middle finger side of the index finger is related to SEL 8; the middle third of the middle finger side of the index finger is related to SEL 10. The base of the middle finger side of the index finger is related to SEL 11. The middle finger side of the index finger is related to ascending energy. Ascending energy cleans/renews and is related to the inhale, up the back.

The index finger corresponds to fear, mental confusion, frustration. Physical symptoms include digestive problems and muscle problems like backache. In balance, freedom from fear is restored.

If one experiences any such disharmony, simply holding the index finger gently while exhaling, then inhaling deeply, for even just a few minutes, will bring harmony back into balance.

This is a simple overview of the index finger. There is much more to learn and understand, and I encourage you, wherever you may live, to find a 5-day basic seminar being taught in your area and register to take the class. You can find the information at http://www.jsjinc.net.

I’m thinking…

…about joy and sorrow.

“Then a woman said, Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow.
And he answered:
Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.”
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.”

Harmonizing the Attitudes through Fingers & Hand (Thumb)

Today I will share my experience and understanding of the thumb and its variety of relationships with the rest of my body.

The thumb has relationship with the 1st Depth. 1st Depth is our “container”, forming our skin surface and is related to our physical growth. Safety Energy Locks 1-4 belong to 1st depth.

The attitude for the thumb is worry.

The lateral (outer) side of the thumb is related to Stomach Energy. Also, the upper third of the lateral thumb relates to SEL 1; the mid-thumb relates to SEL 19 and the base of the thumb relates to SEL 21. This side of the thumb is related to descending energy. Descending energy creates/builds and is related to the exhale, down the front.

The medial (inner) side of the thumb is related to Spleen Energy. The upper half of the thumb is related to SEL 9; the mid-thumb is related to SEL 16. The medial side of the thumb is related to ascending energy. Ascending energy cleans/renews and is related to the inhale, up the back.

The thumb corresponds to worrying, depression, anxiety. Physical symptoms include stomach aches, headaches, skin problems and nervousness. In balance, one feels a sense of security.

If one experiences any such disharmony, simply holding the thumb gently while exhaling, then inhaling deeply, for even just a few minutes, will bring harmony back into balance.

This is a simple overview of the thumb. There is much more to learn and understand and I encourage you, wherever you may live, to find a 5-day basic seminar being taught in your area and register to take the class. You can find the information at http://www.jsjinc.net.

I’m thinking…

…about Psalm 15.

The Message translation (Eugene H. Peterson) gives a contemporary flavor:

God, who gets invited

to dinner at your place?

How do we get on your guest list?

“Walk straight,

act right,

tell the truth.

“Don’t hurt your friend,

don’t blame your neighbor;

despise the despicable

“Keep your word even when it costs you,

make an honest living,

never take a bribe.

“You’ll never get

blacklisted

if you live like this.”

Harmonizing the Attitudes through Fingers & Hand

In my last post in the category “All About Mary”, we finished reviewing Mary Burmeister’s 3 Self-Help books. Book 3 was about “FUN with FINGERS and TOES”. As I prepared each post for that book, I marveled at the physical, emotional and spiritual abilities of our own fingers and hands.

I’ve thought about the healing experienced when hugged by another in times of grief. I’ve thought about how Jesus healed so many by the laying on of his hands. I’ve thought about others, like Smith Wigglesworth, who also healed with the laying on of hands and there are many more in history and in the present. I’ve thought about how a child’s scraped knee can be healed with his mother’s touch.

Each finger and palm represent depths, body organs, attitudes, even ascending or descending flows.  One of my daily practices is to take 36 conscious breaths while gently holding each finger and palm. Also, before I ever even heard of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I suffered many illness and injuries resulting in the need of Western medicine and surgical correction. I will never know if it all could have been avoided had I practiced Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Help from childhood, but it is what it is and now I know how to help myself with my growing awareness and understanding of this ancient Art.

I have had several spinal injuries resulting in two surgeries that left me with chronic pain. Pain killers and muscle relaxers can ease my pain, but there are many negative side effects of medication. Through a growing awareness and understanding of my body functions I’ve learned to change my diet, exercise as much as I can, meditate and love and help others (yes, this is a critical component in my ability to harmonize my body, mind and spirit).

Studying Jin Shin Jyutsu as taught by our wonderful teachers has revealed how the body works. I know more about the circulation of energy and opening Safety Energy Locks. For instance, in addition to practicing the 36 breaths and holding fingers daily, when my spine has great discomfort, there are some things I can do with my hands to help myself. I’ve learned from taking many 5-day basic seminars that the sides of my index fingers have relationship with my kidney and bladder functions. The flows of these two body function energy travel in 5 descending paths on either side of the spine. If I gently hold the sides of my index fingers with the opposite hand thumb and index finger, the pain eases within 20 minutes. Also, if I gently wrap my fingers around my little finger, I will also find relief. This is because the little finger is related to the 5th Depth which is related (among other things) to the skeletal system.

So, beginning with the next post, I want to share my experience, strength and hope through understanding harmonizing “me” with fingers and hand.

I encourage you, wherever you may live, to find a 5-day basic seminar being taught in your area and register to take the class. You can find the information at http://www.jsjinc.net.

I’m thinking about verse 55 of the Tao…

One who embraces Tao will become pure and innocent like a newborn babe

Deadly insects will not sting him

Wild beasts will not attack him

Birds of prey will not strike him

He is oblivious to the union of male and female yet his vitality is full

his inner spirit is complete

He can cry all day without straining

so perfect is his harmony

so magically does he blend with this world

Know this harmony ~ it brings the Eternal

Know the Eternal ~ it brings enlightenment

A full life ~ this is your blessing

A gentle heart ~ this is your strength

Things in harmony with Tao remain

Things that are forced, grow for a while but then wither away

This is not Tao

Whatever is not Tao comes to an early end

All About Mary (Book 3:5:41,42)

Mary wrote 3 Self-Help Jin Shin Jyutsu Textbooks. It was her passion that people should know how to help themselves. With the permission of Mary’s son, David Burmeister, I will share some basic information from those books; the very same books I use when I am teaching a Self-Help class.I strongly suggest that the reader consider purchasing the three textbooks and implement the recommended flows on a daily basis. You will find all three books at http://www.jsjinc.net.

Today we’ll continue our review of Introducing JIN SHIN JYUTSU IS. (Continued) KNOW MYSELF BE IT IS BOOK III.

5. SUMMARY

Mary says, “The Source of Energy for all the cells of the body is located in the PALMS and in the SOLES.”

HANDS, PALMS, FINGERS — FEET, SOLES, TOES

Aren’t they wonderful?

They are wonderful.

Aren’t they FUN?

They are FUN.

How often does one stop to think about them with Cosmic Unconditional Love. One does not pay attention to them until they do not function like they “should”. They are dynamic ~ beyond our wildest imagination. They contain the KEYS to the harmonious functioning of the whole being.

Know that holding (jumper cabling) fingers and palms as well as toes and soles directly and indirectly influences the various activities of the Main Central Vertical Flow. This will in turn control the various functions of the organs and glands, affecting one’s physical, mental and spiritual harmony.

In the Know Myself BE IT IS, IS. one begins to realize that they have been, are, will be at one’s service faithfully always.

Let’s just pause for a moment and give the body a big HUG. In hugging the body, place the THUMBS on the upper front part of the arms, on the joints of the front part of the arms and shoulders, and FINGERS by the sides of the scapula, shoulder blades. The THUMBS help to relax the lungs for easier breathing and the FINGERS help to clear the tension/stress in the shoulders.

Remember to BE the focusing on the HARMONIZER of the disharmony always and NOT the focusing on the disharmony itself. This is not for aches and pains only but in all phases of daily living.

Know that different thoughts result in different disorders ~ simple or complex labels. The answers are in the FINGERS and TOES.

As Plato said: “The best anyone can BE is to remind one of what one already KNOWS ~ not a journey of discovery, but for one of remembrance.”

SMILE.

Keep on SMILING and exhaling. The more one exhales, “gives”, the more one can inhale, “receive”, in abundance.

BE the FUN with FINGERS and TOES.

BE one’s own testimony. No other testimony can BE greater than that of MYSELF.

PHYSIO-PHILOSOPHY (Nature-Effortless Reality)

NOW KNOW MYSELF BE IT IS, IS.

This concludes our review of Mary Burmeister’s 3 Self-Help Books. I challenge you to practice the flows on a daily basis. Mary promises, and I can attest, you will begin to see a difference in 7 days.

Thank you, Mary.

Thank you, David.
