…about how fortunate, blessed I am.
I just finished my first 5-Day Basic Class with Ian Harris. As an instructor, he has certainly achieved his goal of teaching me to think, study, become aware. He is light-hearted and very funny but I think we need to teach him the “Sopranos” way of saying, “Forget about it” (that New York, Brooklyn, Bronx style of speech that movie mobsters use).
This was my 9th 5-Day Basic Class. Each instructor teaches the very same material, but from their own personal insight, experience and perspective.
Anita Willoughby was my first and seventh instructor. She is, to me, vibration: movement and music.
Philomena Dooley was my second and fifth instructor. She, to me, knows everything and runs a tight ship. She is faithful to everything Mary taught her. No pillows, no talking during hands on…I remember I had been in an accident, falling on concrete and slamming my head on a piece of metal as I fell. Ouchy! I had two herniated cervical discs and was in the middle of conservative therapy and was using a pillow to support my neck on the table. Philomena went from table to table making sure the students were okay with the selected flow and she approached the head of the table where I lay and stood over me. Looking down, she softly said, “have you injured your neck?” I was totally amazed. How could she know? I said, “why, yes, I have fallen and herniated two cervical discs!” She just looked at me and turned to the room and announced we should never use pillows unless there is an injury. Pillows were flying from tables (except mine) as she walked away, saying nothing more. Only after did I realize she intended a sarcastic remark that back-fired! I love Philomena. I’m “just this side of OCD” and keep a strict adherence to exactly what Mary wrote and said…just like Philomena.
I never had the privilege of being in Mary’s physical presence, but she has given me a tiny piece of her heart and I feel her energetic, spiritual presence whenever I give myself self-help or work with a client. She continues to be my inspiration. However, I understand from some of the stories Instructors tell, that Mary’s beautiful, smiling face with relaxed shoulders, full of joy, could be, ahem, abrupt. Don’t you simply love JSJ?
Michael Wenninger, to me, as an instructor, epitomizes Jin Shin Jyutsu in his Being. He exudes peace, serenity, humility and unconditional love.
Wayne Hackett knows everything – plus! He opened my mind to the relationships of JSJ with astrology, astronomy, numerology. At one of the hands-on sessions, he went from table to table listening to pulses of the student then receiving Jin Shin Jyutsu. I was on the table, resting my hands on my 14s and he came up to the table, listened to my pulses, gently spread the fingers of my hands and said “You have 5th Depth issues. How long have your little fingers been crooked?” I replied, “Since I was in utero.” He responded, “The fifth depth issues are generational.” and moved on to the next table. Well, I stayed up most of the night going over my notes and literature trying to determine what could be done about this project. I found nothing. I needed to create a plan, a flow to end this generational issue! Surely there must be a book! In the morning, Wayne and I happened to be alone in the auditorium just before class and I approached him and gave him this long story as presented here to you, dear readers, and I said to him, “What shall I do?” He slowly took a couple of steps closer to me (he was on stage and I was below, by the seats) and smiled a little smile as he looked down at me and said: “Hold your little fingers” and then he turned back to preparing his presentation! (I told you I was just this side of OCD!) Jin Shin Jyutsu is simple. It is up the back and down the front. It is the smile. It is the dropping of the shoulders. It is the breath. Well, I don’t know…do you think I shall ever learn? Smile.
Sara Harper, who taught me the Living the Art so that I could teach Self-Help, has an unbelievable story of how JSJ saved her very life; yet she is sweet, and childlike and resembles a flower constantly opening and unfurling…just my opinion, you understand.
And then there is Jed Schwartz who is so experienced and New York City but often teaches classes in Woodstock. He is left and right and yin and yang, and up the back and down the front. (NYC-Woodstock)
Oh, yes and Cynthia Broshi and Susan Schwartz (Jed’s sister) – you just feel like you want to gently give them the JSJ hug!(9/26, 2, heart-to heart).
And, AND I have been honored to meet Sadaki Kato and am registered for his class In Morristown, NJ in November, 2014.
I love to:
“NOW KNOW (help) MYSELF, BE IT IS, IS. BE Infinite Truth, Infinite Self, Impersonal Self.” – Mary Burmeister
So, to all my dear readers, practice your self-help daily and be aware. Then you will be ready to help all others!
PS There are new materials available from Scottsdale (www.jsjinc.net):
“Zero to Twenty-Six excerpts from THE MAIN CENTRAL”, Waltraud Riegger-Krause’s book and card set: “Jin Shin Jyutsu Practicing the Art of Self-Healing” and a small laminated chart of animal SELs. I bought them all! I highly recommend them.
Okay! Everybody give yourselves the “Big Hug” and breathe…..
