Jin Shin Jyutsu

In today’s post “All About Mary” we learn the Source Of Life Self-Help Flow.

I perform this flow daily before I get out of bed…remembering to step out of bed with left foot first on floor…for proper grounding.

After 8 5-day basic classes, I’ve learned more interesting facts about each and every, teeny-tiny aspect of Jin Shin Jyutsu. For interest, the relationship it has with numerology, astrology, astronomy, quantum physics, medicine, meditation….oh, my, the relationships go on and on and on!

The Main Central Vertical Harmonizing Energy (Universal) Self- Help Flow consists of 7 steps. It follows the line of Chakras – from crown chakra #7 (top center of head) to root chakra #1(at the base of the spine).

In Jin Shin Jyutsu, SEL 1 means Prime Mover, General Practitioner/Leader. In numerology, 1 is known as the primal generator and, like SEL 1, is Masculine and signifies unity (among other things) So, while step 1 is not where SEL 1 is located, it has numerology similarities by simply being number 1.

So, if the first step of the Self-Help flow is #1, and step 2 (between the eyebrows) where SELs 20 are located; 2+0=2. Then
Step 3 (tip of nose) is where the 21s are located; 2+1=3.
Step 4 (sternum) is where the 13s are located; 1+3=4.
Step 5 (base of sternum) is where the 14s are located; 1+4=5.
Step 6 (top of pubic bone) is where 15s are located; 1+5=6.
Step 7 (bring hand to coccyx from top of head, 1); 1+5+1-7.

Every page of every text book is purposely numbered by Mary to be meaningful to our awareness and understanding of this Art.

I don’t know about you, but this awareness sent me scurrying to find out more about the relationship between Jin Shin Jyutsu and numerology. Why did Master Jiro number the flows the way he did? Ah, I see this Art requires a lifetime of study!

Thank you, Bara, for your insight. Jin Shin Jyutsu is so very simple yet our understanding of it takes us on twisting, turning paths that ever climb upwards to awareness.
Mary makes every effort to keep us from making Jin Shin Jyutsu complex. I am so grateful to her for her wisdom and guidance. We say the same things, you and I, from a slightly different perspective.

After taking five 5-day classes, I found out that I was able to purchase Haruki Kato’s two textbooks. There are reasons that Scottsdale requires a student to have taken a minimum of five 5-day classes. My experience is that I would have never been able to understand all the information that this last living student of Master Jiro Murai would reveal.

One important thing, to me anyway, is that in Text 1 on page 6, he comments on being convinced that the best way to treat a disorder is to observe it from three different points of view.

Students know that Kato was one of three students of Jiro Murai. Mary and her father were the other two students. Also, Master Murai told Kato that Jin Shin Jyutsu is a kind of medical practice and that Kato would have to obtain a license to practice medicine. Master Murai told Kato that he would like him to not study other forms of medicine until he gave him permission ~ because he would be confused if he learned other disciplines before he learned the basics of Jin Shin Jyutsu. And so Kato studied with Master Murai for 3 years. After that Master Murai permitted Kato to go to school to obtain licensing. Kato went to acupuncture-moxibustion school (still studying with Master Murai), obtained his license to practice medicine and continued to study with Master Murai until his death.

Back to page 6 of text 1, Kato is convinced that the best way to observe, or diagnose, a disorder is 1) observe the internal organ system (acupuncture-moxibustion and Chinese herbology), 2) the movement system (body-balancing method as originated by Master Kamei) and 3) the circulation system (Jin Shin Jyutsu). He believes this is the best way to treat any disorder…and he realized that there is a principle that unifies all three approaches.

I don’t want to confuse the reader, but encourage you to meet the requirements and obtain these textbooks from Scottsdale. (www.jsjinc.net)

My own experience is that if disorders appear, I can manage them by daily performing Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Help. (I do the Main Central every morning, the Mudras mid-day and the 36 breaths/holding fingers every night). In addition, I go to a Network Chiropractor monthly (for energetic spinal maintenance, not adjustments) and have Swedish massage once each week. My body is able to do what it was designed to do: restore, revitalize and recreate itself if I do these simple things.

For me the most critical care is daily Jin Shin Jyutsu. If there is a dis-ease or pain, I will draw on my textbooks to add appropriate self-help flows. I am acutely aware that Kato suggests Jin Shin Jyutsu for circulation; all circulation. Not just the circulation of energy.
I have a great deal to learn. I am especially glad that Kato’s son, Sadaki, will be teaching a 5-day basic seminar in November, 2014, right here in New Jersey, USA. I am beside myself with joy that I have met the requirements and have registered for this class.

    Perhaps I’ll get smart!

Love to you, dear Bara my friend and one-week roommate; and to all my readers.

    Hi dearest Debbie,

may I add two critical notes to your “all about Mary” & “MCV self-help” this weeks blog? (If not- do not read on!) =)

    I) The 1st step in a flow is always 2 hands – so MCV self-help is top of head & mid forehead. We only have 6 “balancing” steps in the MCV-SH. We have seven places we lay hands – but only 6 steps.

In SH Book I she calls step 1 – 1a & 1b The MCV flows often have to do with the 6th depth – so it rings true that she gives us 6 steps. (The number of steps is very important clue to a flow, and the number of holds can actually be more…as in 1st Method Correction- 6 steps but actually 9 holds, or SBFE 1st depth- 2 steps yet 5/optionally 8 holds!)

This version of the MCV is all about the hormones- who steer/direct our body – the endocrine system. It is about recharging the battery that runs the body; activating the prefect blueprint…”6″ again. Of course there is much more that is activated when we lay hands on these areas- and we can have/activate it all in one fell swoop!

You were talking about discovering numerology – that it is 6 steps is important! And… introducing it as 7 chakras down (7 to 1) but then go on to show our counting SELs near as 20/”2″ (energy for all creators) to 25/”7″ (perfect/victory) – where is there the building? We have energy manifesting down the front…BUILDING the body – so our counting goes up. Could you be missing the point (or am I)?

II) Mary never used the word “chakra” in relation to the MCV self-help — yes, it is in same area, but not in any direct relation; and she (allegedly) did not want them in same breath, so to say.

As far as I understand it, she did not want people to automatically relate them together. She spent many years finding the words and pictures in English/western understanding to explain the Japanese/Eastern meanings/ teachings of JSJ. In the 60s, in California, the people did hear of chakras already – and she did not use this concept to describe/ relate the MCV SH — she will have had an honourable reason. JSJ is not TCM nor Chakra – so she did not talk about the similarities to meridians nor chakras, etc. One of the instructors said to me that waters down understanding, not helps.

    >The Main Central Vertical Harmonizing Energy (Universal) Self- Help Flow consists of 7 steps. It follows the line of Chakras – from crown chakra #7 (top center of head) to root chakra #1(at the base of the spine).< Practically the first this you do in your introduction of the MCV-SH is summon up pre-set ideas in the readers head – their experience with chakras! You have already closed the box! Now anything you say about the MCV-SH will only be adding onto the knowledge of another system instead of introducing a totally different way of knowing/ experiencing/ learning. Instead of opening a beautiful gift (box empty to fill – you are causing them to just shove more into another box they already have. (Of course, we should not be boxing anything – it should always be in free flow… but you get my drift.)

I have met many JSJers that eagerly relate JSJ to commonly known (that does not mean that they are actually understood!) eastern concepts and words. I have heard – "to make it easier for others to accept JSJ!" *%!&&*!??? The first two things that pop into my mind when I hear this is 1) yuk! & 2) and the Einstein thesis: cannot solve with the same way of thinking where problem started. (at end of mail)

In 5-day, sometimes get the handout…."…And you will live with the license of a higher order of beings. If you have build castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundation under them." Henry David Thoreau

So JSJ is way high up there – (in the fluff with tone?/ up in the nothing & light)… the palace in the clouds – and we should not harpoon it and pull it down so we can grasp it easier —- we need to build the stairway up to those clouds! We need to reach up / raise ourselves up to its level!

We can discover one way; then discover a totally different path of truth – in the end, everything is ONE and truth is truth and shows up in all real systems/understandings of the universe/of self… That is cool! – Wayne says that it why we keep seeing that these different things are truth – we can see them in action. Yet they are not the same – not always to be taken equally, as "=".

It is cheating to mix them as it appears easier to rope in more people – and cheating is never really learning. You are building on a different foundation – that will confuse & defuse the lesson – MUD – will be hard to build a stable house on the wrong foundation. (Luckily we have our great friend SEL 16!) Exhale, each new breath is new chance to build/rebuild in perfect/correct flow/manifestation. Matthias gave a cute analogy: soup. You have several great – amazingly delicious soups. So you say – if mix them together – it will be even better ! Well, I can tell you – you will spit it out! Mixing different good things is not always better – in fact – detrimental.

It is very human – to need to feel achievement – for getting it. It is also human to need support, to know we already know something. Trust is not so easy for us! We want to build – but not start from scratch! We want to fly, but with feet safely on the ground! We want to grow, but not the growing pains!

    It is all very human.
    Love & light, Bara
