Jed Schwartz shares his experience of Safety Energy Lock 15 in the Jin Shin Jyutsu Newsletter, issue Number 18, Autumn 1997:
I had a new client whose groin area was like a sheet of raised steel from the pubic area to the hipbone. Holding the 15 and 6 (the first step of the 15 flow), I listened and waited while he began to doze off. Gradually life began to flow through this area, and I witnessed the melting away of this “stuck”.
Some time later while I continued the flow, my client awoke and began to laugh hysterically for about five minutes. Then he turned to me with surprise and confusion, saying, “I have no idea why I’m laughing.” And so it was. There was no reason for his laughter other than the letting go of years of stress. To his joy, he felt better than ever and left without back pain and with a smile. This friend gave me the gift of a deepening of my 15 awareness. He EXHALED from his head to his toes with each laugh, and then filled up with peace and freedom. Fifteen – pure subconscious, or personal Joy Giver.
Norman Cousins, in his book Anatomy of an Illness, writes about his journey toward healing. Seriously ill and without hope from western medicine, he found himself in the hospital, feeling worse that ever. Cousins came to the awareness that the healthiest and happiest times in his life were when he was joyous and filled with laughter, which wasn’t happening for him in the hospital. He checked out and filled his life with things that gave him joy and laughter; “positive emotions are connected to chemical changes”. Through joy and laughter, harmony began and then healing – a great example of the power of 15.
Fifteen means to wash our hearts with laughter”. In looking up these words in Webster’s, I found:
wash: to cleanse or purify spiritually.
heart: (1) the muscular organ…maintaining the circulation of blood; (2) the whole personality, including intellectual as well as emotional functions or traits.
laughter: audible expression to an emotion of joy by the expulsion of air from the lungs.
joy: a vivid emotion of pleasure arising from a sense of well-being.
So one could say 15 is cleansing or purifying the whole personality (intellect and emotions) through the expression of the pleasure of well-being through our exhaling.
